G & G Healthcare Services

G & G Healthcare Services North Miami Beach Florida

At G&G Holistic Addiction Treatment Program it is our sincere desire to motivate our clients to choose a more healthy way of life and to help themselves to get the life they really want. We take a Holistic approach to addiction treatment, BODY-MIND-SPIRIT. This three-fold approach encompasses the clients’ physiological, psycho-emotional and spiritual needs. We are a client-centered program based on respect and compassion.

ABOUT G&G HEALTHCARE SERVICES

Located halfway between downtown Miami and Fort Lauderdale, G&G Healthcare Services offers medical detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization (PHP), and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs for adults struggling with substance use and co-occurring disorders.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

G&G’s two-phase treatment program takes a holistic, mind-body-spirit approach. In Phase I, residential treatment, clients receive more than 40 hours each week of individual, group, and family therapy; in Phase II, a three-week IOP program, they’ll further their recovery through more than 35 hours a week of care focused on relapse prevention.

During counseling sessions, clients participate in a range of specialized treatment modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational enhancement therapy (MET), hypnosis, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). Clients also attend 12-step meetings off-site (transportation inclusive), develop invaluable life skills, and receive support in their educational and vocational pursuits.

Holistic therapies are manifold. At designated times throughout the week, clients attend yoga and meditation sessions, as well as auricular acupuncture. In keeping with the facility’s claim to treat the spiritual side of addiction, each day begins with a nondenominational “morning spiritual,” where clients practice mindfulness and set simple, attainable goals. To help clients improve their self-esteem and confidence, a ropes course is offered every 30 days.

All clients receive free aftercare for life, which includes access to a weekly aftercare group and weekly phone calls with clinical staff. G&G also pays for four therapy sessions in the client’s home area after they’ve completed treatment.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Staff includes a master’s level counselor as the clinical director, a physician assistant, chefs, a nutritionist, and 24/7 on-site medical staff.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Amenities include a fitness program with offerings like gym and karate classes. Clients are also offered several kinds of massages, colonics, reiki, and spa visits. Chefs prepare low carb, high protein meals designed by dietitians for clients.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Of the 29 alumni reports shared with Best-rehabs.com as of this writing, 23 were positive, and six were negative. Of those satisfied with their experiences here, alumni were grateful for the “caring,” “amazing,” and “1st class” staff, specifically highlighting the fact that some are in recovery themselves. “Well rounded an compassionate. The owners/ staff are in recovery. They understand!” posted an anonymous alum in a representative statement.

Reviewers also held the extracurricular activities and the holistic treatment methods in high regard, and three even credited the facility with saving their lives. “Their approach and methods were just what I needed to aid me in getting my life back,” alum Matt recalled. “I am so grateful each and every day.”

Yet more than one reviewer contradicted claims on good food. “There is absolutely NO individualized food plans done by the nutritionist for each client, that is a flat out lie,” Steve claimed. “Clients are all expected to eat the completely greasy, drowned in oil food that is really hard on the stomach, if you don’t eat it, you don’t eat.” Fellow alum Ryan concurred. In his detailed list of complaints on the facility, Steve reported an excessive focus on the 12-Steps, and a lack of advertised extracurriculars, aftercare, and personalized treatment.

Other critics noted a lack of mental health options, feeling “neglected,” and a suspicion that those in charge were more interested in money above all else.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

Of the three loved ones to have submitted Best-rehabs.com surveys to date, two had positive facility experiences. H.M. praised the facility’s holistic options, writing: “This really set G&G apart, and is what my son credits with his newfound commitment and strength in his sobriety.” However, H.D., whose husband attended treatment here, also reported a lack of aftercare.

FINANCING

Per a brochure published on the G&G’s webpage, a four-week residential stay costs $23,800, and three weeks of IOP comes to $10,800. Insurance is accepted and financing options are available.

Reviews about G & G Healthcare Services

G&G was horrible. The accommodations were an old hotel in what appeared to be a ghetto. The staff, minus a few, were angry bossy and yelling st people constantly. I woke up one night to find an overnight staff member asleep on my couch with the television on. The kitchen staff would give certain clients double portions and when others would ask for extra they became belligerent. All they ever served was chicken. I would recommend anyone to stay away from this place, it's a rip off. One staff member goes so far to you you're going to die if you don't stay longer. I had to leave and find another. JUST STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE PLEASE!

  • Not a bad place , something's could have been better , chicken , chicken , chicken . The staff is caring , more one on one with therapist would of been better , I relapsed because I didn't do what I was supposed to do . I jumped right back in the frying pan. I have since been to Mcleans hospital up here in Ma. I'm doing better in an outpatient program . I would go back there if I had to which I hope I never do. One day at a time !

  • I had a wonderful experience at G & G Holistic and would recommend it to anyone who is really wanting to change their lives!
I was a client at G and G and was extremely satisfied with the services I received. My accommodations were very clean and well maintained. The grounds at the residence were gorgeous, beautifully designed for a wonderful place to relax. All our meals were wonderful. We had fresh fruits and vegetables available at each meal and an array of fresh fruits available around the clock if you wanted a snack. The staff was kind, patient and understanding. If you or a loved one is in need of treatment for alcohol abuse and it drug abuse this would be an outstanding facility to address those issues as well as underlying issues that drive these destructive behaviors. Overall wonderful place.

Most importantly, it has helped me see a life without drugs.

  • I was totally beaten down prior to being admitted into g&g. This treatment center did for me exactly what I needed it to do. I've have lengths of sobriety in the past so what I needed and expected was to get clean and feel better physically. I needed rest and needed a little time to get my emotions together and g&g did exactly that. My therapist was great and all the extra curricular activities like the gym, and yoga was very therapeutic. I'm very grateful for everything I got out of this treatment. The food and living quarters were phenomenal. I also met some great people who I'll be friends with for the rest of my life.

  • So this review is very detailed, and gives a review while also giving information of what the program is like. I apologize for the length but I felt like it was necessary to go in depth, as I feel that if I had read more in depth reviews, I may have made a better decision regarding where I went for rehab. I was a patient in G&G rehab for 30 days. Overall, I would NOT recommend this rehab to a friend or family member. Because administration is completely in disarray, the program, from doing your intake and assessment, down to group and even getting clients to the center, is completely disorganized, the staff is not on the same page. The staff also have favorites, and treat different clients differently, for example allowing some clients to have their cell phones all the time while others cannot. Also, while I was there, my family sent me candy in the mail and I was not permitted to have it, yet another client was sent candy and homemade cookies the same day and WAS allowed to have them, because he was popular with the staff. The groups are so repetitive, and they are short on therapists, which means at times, all clients are made to watch a two hour video about STD's. And the groups cycle, so each week the groups are all repeated, so after being there for a week you have already gone through all the groups, and will have seen every group four times. None of the groups are support groups or interactive groups, which is the worst part, they are all like sitting in a lecture hall and hearing a lecture since it is just the group leader talking AT the clients. The groups, which are truly the bread and butter of rehab, one of the most important aspects, are just not very educational or life skill / recovery skill oriented. They never teach relapse prevention or coping skills. Once you have gone to one group, you have heard it all. The only thing you hear over and over and OVER in groups, the only thing they pound into your head is GET A SPONSOR, GO TO MEETINGS, AND WORK THE STEPS! They do not take the time to teach WHY people use and teach about actual addiction and HOW to cope without drugs, they literally just repeat the whole sponsor meeting steps thing, it is just not proactive or useful in any way. There only two people who run really useful groups, but they only come in once a month because they work at Palm Partners. Groups are held at the 'center'. Clients live and eat at the residence, and are bused out to the center for groups each morning and afternoon, after a lunch break. Clients live in apartment like homes, with two people in a room, and between 2-3 rooms an apartment, with one tiny bathroom to share. The food is terrible, if you have any eating issues or sensitivity / allergies, good luck! They do not accommodate. They do not use sugar, and the food is so covered in olive oil, and it is either chicken or fish every single day. Most of their food comes pre-packaged, especially breakfast when they give you generic awful eggo waffles straight from the plastic package. And you are only allowed to have ONE yogurt all day. If you want milk for cereal later in the day, you have to squander it and hide it in your fridge. If you are hungry during the day, or couldn't eat one of the meals, you are out of luck because there is nothing besides Raisin Bran without milk in the kitchen until meal time. There is an overpriced vending machine that only works part of the time. The only thing they keep out in the kitchen for clients to eat during the day is fruit that is not ripe, dry cereal, no milk, and powdered crystal light. The food there is the worst out of any rehab I've been to, some of it is just plain in-edible. There is absolutely NO individualized food plans done by the nutritionist for each client, that is a flat out lie. Clients are all expected to eat the completely greasy, drowned in oil food that is really hard on the stomach, if you don't eat it, you don't eat! And they do not allow any outside food or drink, not even candy. There are no outside activities, or any kind of physical activities or outings offered, besides going to the beach once a week for an hour, which only happens if you are "phase two" and have been there two weeks and completed your work, and have not missed a single group and turned your phone in every night. The website advertises so many things that are completely flat out lies, going back and watching the website video is almost comical because of how absurd the lies are. They claim they do a biochemical hair analysis, to identify heavy medals or toxicity in ones system and then come up with a nutritional supplement protocol specific for each client, which is also a lie. Every client is offered the same three vitamins every morning that do nothing for your health, I know because I took them, hoping they would help me feel better in some kind of way. There is also no fitness program (you are taken to the gym twice a week where everyone knows you are coming from a rehab) There is also no ropes course, or karate class. There is the possibility that if you move onto phase 2, you may get to go to yoga twice during your stay there. There is also absolutely NO "world class health spa on the beach". Also, "yoga and acupuncture five days a week" is another flat out lie. While you are at G&G, you get three services in total provided during your stay that are included in the cost, massage, ion foot bath, a colonic, or acupuncture. Anything over three must be payed for, starting at $100 for a massage. Another thing on the website that is false, is them claiming they will set up and PAY for a private relapse prevention therapist once you get home! What a joke. One of the worst things with G&G, and why so many people relapse from this program, as some clients who were there had returned for the 3rd, 4th, and even 5th time, is that the staff does NOT follow through with helping clients to create an aftercare treatment plan. Without this, clients are discharged back home and left to their own devices without the proper support and aftercare treatment, which is a recipe for relapse. The biggest thing I had a problem with at G&G was that the treatment being cookie cutter, there is no individualized treatment, every client goes to every group together, there is no specialization with groups, it's a one size fits all program, which is really detrimental and unfortunate for clients, as all clients have different needs, just because we are all addicts does not mean that we are all the same in every way. Different people have different needs, and other treatment centers I have been to have been really great about individual treatment where clients are given groups that are relative and useful to them, rather than sticking all 60 people in a room because they only have one group for everyone since they don't want to pay for additional therapists. While I was there, I only saw my therapist for an hour and a half TOTAL during my month long stay. Therapists are supposed to see each and every client for at LEAST an hour each week, but not here. There is such a lack of individual therapy and treatment at G&G, it is really a shame. Just on a side note, I want to clear up some other fallacies that are on the website that I did not cover earlier. Acupuncture is NOT offered five days per week and never are clients "transported to the spa to cleanse and detoxify the body on a cellular level and encourage 'sober fun'." They also do not have hypnosis, nor do they have a hyperbaric chamber, I was told over the phone that they did, when I got there, I was informed that a client broke it months ago. Possibly one of the most disturbing things was the bedbug outbreak. The clients told the staff about it when the outbreak first happened. By the time the staff even started going into the rooms and "treating" the outbreak, it was a WEEK later and had spread to more than half of the apartments, one of the ladies there was covered from head to toe in itchy red bites, poor thing. Even after they "treated" the rooms, the bedbugs remained, because it was not the proper treatment to eliminate bedbugs. I would also have to note that there is no help or emphasis for those with co-occurring, mental health disorders. There are no mental health groups, or emphasis on mental health whatsoever, which is a vital component to addiction treatment. As far as the staff goes, I don't really know where to start. Mostly, you will deal with techs, because they are with clients 24/7. One of the lead techs is an incredibly unprofessional woman who talks to clients like they are dogs, whose volume is a chronic scream and non stop cursing at the top of her lungs. Some of the techs are cool. The rest just stay away from. A lot of groups would be cancelled because there was just not enough therapists, which left the clients twiddling their thumbs with nothing to do. On the weekends, there was absolutely NOTHING to do, no activities, nothing at all. Weekends are tough because there is only one group in the morning, and the rest of the day all there is to do is smoke cigarettes and drink coffee, clients are not provided any games, outings, or activities at all. Another thing if you decide to go there, do not create a client account with the financial lady. If you put money in the account, one day you will go to buy something, (out of the center store since you are not allowed to buy anything from the outside because they want you to spend every dime there) one day they will tell you that, surprise, there is no money in your account because they took it all out for prescriptions. I have been to several different rehabs in several different states. I would have to say out of all of them, this was my worst experience. When you talk on the phone to the admission people, look at the website and watch the website video, you have certain expectations...like what they are saying is what will be available to you there. Unfortunately, this place is just a LOT of false advertising. There were a lot of HIPPA privacy violations that made me incredibly uncomfortable. Clients were taking pictures and videos of other clients even though it was against the rules. There is no individualized treatment by ANY means, I feel like this is the most important thing to underscore, as with this, and groups, are what makes the rehab either good or bad, along with the quality and time spent with therapists, which is slim to none here. Ultimately, G&G is just disorganized, understaffed, generic, and unprofessional. There are worse places, but there are also much, MUCH better places. I would just recommend doing your research on ANY place you go. In my experience, over the rehabs I have gone to in Florida, Futures of Palm Beach was the absolute best, a super nice facility with very individualized treatment and great staff. There are SO many rehabs in Florida, just make sure you know what you or your family member is getting into.

  • What do they mean holistic...One male staff member is more interested in padding his pockets. There was more emphasis with cell phones then any therapy. More time riding on a van from the old motel to lecture hall and back because the facilities are seperate. When the owner drives a $160.000 plus Mercedes you have to wonder. Also the vitamins that he tries to sell you at a high price and says they are better then anything else on the market(GNC Trader Joes etc.) is bs because he owns the company. Make the right if seeking help.

I can never say thank you enough for one staff member in particular, and all the staff. I was on prescriptions oxycodone due to a auto accident. I hated being on this medication I wanted to come off this but safely I came to G & G on my own for the 30 day program. That was 3 years ago I am thankful to say I gave had no setback or the desire for this medication at all...The day I left I had 200 20mg left and a new prescription to be fill for 240.. I am thankful to say I flused the 200 the day I came back and ripped up the new prescription. Thanks a million for being there

  • My son's experience, and that of our family, at G&G was great. Holistic treatment methods are something we knew very little about, and previous rehab programs did not use. This really set G&G apart, and is what my son credits with his newfound commitment and strength in his sobriety.
