ABOUT HEADWATERS AT ORIGINS

Origins Behavioral Healthcare operates five substance abuse treatment facilities in Texas and Florida, including Hannah’s House, Origins Recovery Centers in South Padre Island, Hanley Center at Origins, and Gate Lodge at Origins.

HeadWaters at Origins, the focus of this review, is located in West Palm Beach, Florida and offers an exclusive residential program for adult men and women seeking a discreet treatment experience. The program consists of two separate tracks: one for individuals of high net worth and a second for doctors, lawyers, pilots, and other licensed professionals. Clients with co-occurring disorders are also treated, and on-site medically monitored detox services are available.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

All clients entering one of Origins’ treatment programs undergo a thorough assessment to determine the most appropriate course of care.

Treatment is highly individualized, combining 12-step methods with evidence-based practices. Therapeutic modalities include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), cognitive restructuring, motivational interviewing, dual-focus group therapy, rational emotive behavior therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), biofeedback, and neurofeedback. Clients also receive psychotherapy, psychiatric, and psychological services.

Holistic techniques are another important component of treatment and include acupuncture, meditation, various forms of massage (Thai, deep tissue, hot stone, and Swedish), yoga, Reiki, somatic breathing, and personal training.

The facility collaborates with the families of each client to involve them in the treatment process. Additionally, comprehensive aftercare support is available to all successful graduates, including an exclusive 12-month recovery support group developed specifically for clients of Origins.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The treatment team consists of physicians, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, addictionologists, certified addiction counselors, spiritual counselors, nutritionists, and holistic practitioners. The facility provides 24-hour nursing care.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

The luxurious and intimate 14-bed facility offers well-appointed private rooms and daily housekeeping. Other amenities include a swimming pool, a fully equipped gym, a jogging path, and a walking trail. Clients enjoy five-star gourmet meals and regular trips to the beach.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The sole client review received by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave five-star ratings for accommodations, amenities, meals, and nutrition, but only a two-star rating for treatment effectiveness. The client, D.J.P., currently residing at the facility, mentioned appreciating the luxuriousness of the facility but expressed dissatisfaction with the services and treatment options.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The two family members surveyed by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided mostly positive reviews of HeadWaters at Origins. Both respondents rated the facility with four or five stars for family participation, connectivity and visitor policies, cleanliness, counseling options, treatment of co-occurring disorders, and the staff’s level of treatment and experience. Although one reviewer reported a satisfactory experience overall, the other expressed concerns about the high cost of the rehab program.

  • Considering the 30 day average cost of $80,000, there are many areas of needed improvement. The primary therapists and group therapists are probably the best you will find which was a plus. Organization, scheduling, and communication between departments need completely revamped for Origins to be recommended to anyone I know. God forbid If I ever had to go into rehab again, I'd go elsewhere to avoid the headache of dealing with the incompetent non-therapeutic staff at HeadWaters.

  • I am currently a patient here right now- feel free to ask me questions. Facilities, food, and some staff are top notch. Too much emphasis on AA which is free. Clinically, too rushed and not enough 1:1 therapy available for the price tag. Gym is like a Motel 8. Upper management too focused on money and less concerned about the quality of treatment, and money talks here. Standards are compromised for the almighty dollar which is a disappointment. In recovery, money doesn't buy sobriety so in some ways these luxury treatment models are flawed and just enable the addict/alcoholic. If changes were made at the top and the right people were managing the place this facility could be one of the best. Currently, it is does not offer nearly the value its price tag commands and consequently I do not recommend it.
The counseling offered was a strength. The costs incurred was a weakness. It's beautiful and top of the line
