ABOUT PINELAND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH/DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES – JOHN’S PLACE
Located in Statesboro, Ga., Pineland Behavioral Health/Developmental Disabilities – John’s Place provides intensive short-term residential treatment to adults seeking treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient services, specialized services for women, an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and enhanced intensive outpatient program, transitional care, and detox are provided at different locations in the Pineland network.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
The treatment process at Pineland Behavioral Health/Developmental Disabilities – John’s Place begins with a comprehensive assessment by trained personnel. Clients may be recommended to other Pineland facilities for different forms of treatment. Clients needing the most intensive care are admitted to John’s Place residential program.
Treatment consists of community-based services including educational coursework. All programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and utilize evidence- and research-based practices. Aside from the clinical options available, clients can participate in educational programs for high-needs subjects. These subjects include anger management and legal assistance.
Pineland also has a specialized residential program exclusively for women and their children. Called Women’s Ready for Work, it’s designed specifically for pregnant or postpartum women (and their infants) whose substance abuse issues have prevented them from steady employment. There is also a women-only intensive outpatient program (IOP), as well as flexible outpatient services for both men and women, including individual, group, and family therapy,
Aftercare components are available for clients that complete programs. Family participation is encouraged throughout the process. Services for families such as family counseling can be made available as needed for client treatments.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
While there is currently no information provided by Pineland Behavioral Health/Developmental Disabilities – John’s Place regarding its treatment staff, the four individuals polled by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave the facility an average rating of four out of five stars for its staff’s level of training and experience. Aside from the clinical staff, John’s Place also uses volunteers to coordinate services.

At the time of this writing, one loved one of a former client provided feedback to Best-rehabs.com for John’s Place. The feedback was negative. When asked, on a scale from one to five, to what degree they would recommend the facility, the loved one gave just one star.
The anonymous reviewer gave the facility just one out of five stars for its treatment effectiveness and its family participation, as well. The loved one wrote: “Staff is rude to family members who express concerns…They mistreat patients and do not really understand withdrawal and how to treat those going through withdrawal.”
However, the loved one did give four out of five stars for its affordability.

The one staff member polled by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing, gave John’s Place a mostly positive review.
The staffer awarded the facility three out of five stars or higher across all 15 categories evaluated, including treatment effectiveness, family participation, cleanliness, and the staff’s level of training and experience. The reviewer indicated that the facility was “very knowledgeable,” but did note a lack of individualized attention as its one weakness.
FINANCING
Pineland Behavioral Health/Developmental Disabilities – John’s Place accepts Medicaid, Medicare as well as private insurance. Self-pay on a sliding fee scale is available for clients that qualify. To qualify, clients must provide proof of income. The sliding fee scale is based on clients’ income and family size. Clients that do not provide proof of income are billed 100% of the costs until they comply. The Benefits Eligibility Unit is available to help clients find funding for treatment through various sources.
