ABOUT UNITYPOINT HEALTH – ILLINOIS INSTITUTE FOR ADDICTION RECOVERY
The Illinois Institute for Addiction Recovery (IIAR) is a progressive treatment center that offers care for individuals dealing with substance abuse as well as other addictions including gambling, food, sex, gaming, and spending. IIAR has four locations in Illinois – Peoria, Springfield, Normal, and Harvey. The facility at the Unity Point Proctor Hospital campus in Peoria provides both residential and outpatient options for adults. At the time of this writing, the facility plans on introducing intensive outpatient behavioral health and addiction services for adolescents sometime in 2017, according to the IIAR website.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Admission to IIAR is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The process includes a comprehensive interview and assessment by a multidisciplinary team.
Residential treatment is individualized and includes intensive counseling, meetings, group therapy, education, lectures, and family and employer involvement when appropriate. An extended care program is also offered and includes up to 90 days in treatment.
Though not available at all IIAR locations, holistic and alternative therapies include yoga, biofeedback, aqua therapy, acupuncture, massage therapy, and drum circle therapy.
Outpatient programming is typically conducted in the evenings. The facility also offers a day treatment program, in which clients participate in a full day of programming, but return home at night. Aftercare for clients includes individual and group counseling at less intensive levels than primary treatment, along with 12-step meeting attendance.
A family program is available for loved ones and involves addiction education, support, and resources for growth and recovery.

The treatment team includes medical doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, and certified and licensed clinicians.
