ABOUT TARA TREATMENT CENTER

Situated on 13 acres of idyllic countryside just south of Indianapolis, Ind. since its founding in 1985, Tara Treatment Center offers 12-step treatment for adults struggling with addiction. This nonprofit facility offers a variety of services including on-site detox, gender-specific residential treatment, transitional residential treatment, standard outpatient treatment, intensive outpatient care, partial hospitalization (PHP), and aftercare. There is also a free service designed for friends and family members seeking a better understanding of addiction and recovery.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to the facility’s website, Tara adopts a spiritually-based, holistic approach to treatment. Gender-specific residential treatment typically lasts 30 to 42 days. In addition to the 12 Steps, individual therapy, psychoeducation, and group counseling, Tara offers its clients recovery-specific yoga classes, experiential therapy, relapse prevention education, and equine-assisted therapy.

During that time, guests can receive mail and watch TV during designated periods. No outside reading material is permitted. Phone privileges are granted on a tiered system, and visitation is allowed every other Saturday (guests must attend the family education program before visiting a loved one).

Transitional residential treatment is available for residential clients who require further stabilization and support before returning home. Individuals who are better matched to outpatient care may choose from standard outpatient treatment, intensive outpatient treatment, and partial hospitalization. Aftercare groups meet once a week.

Outpatient services are held Mondays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Tara Treatment Center Reviews

My experience was awful. I was supposed to be pre admitted from a 6 day detox. But when arriving in the med cab at 7:00pm they turned me away. The staff is incredibly unprofessional in even the way they address one another. I’m grateful that God chose a different path for other than Tara Poor Treatment Center.
I entered Tara this Spring for the 30 day program on my own. I was ready to stop drinking after many , many years. I found the staff very understanding for the most part but let’s face the fact . Under going change is difficult. I had good and bad days. Mostly good. Days are structured,. You will know where to be and when. I found being on a routine was the first step in learning all the teaching received. The first week ten days were my hardest , for me. Everybody is different and the staff knows that. If you are genuinely ready to make life changes, then check out Tara! It made a huge difference in my life. Thanks Tara for remaining open during this pandemic and continuing your service to those of us willing to except the ( help ) It’s changed my life for the better.
They worked in a way that messed up alignment. The food is horrible and not nutrtritious.
I am a Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor having been employed at Tara Treatment Center as well as other treatment programs. I believe Tara provides a premier program for Substance Dependence. The curriculum is designed for addiction education and long-term recovery lifestyle applications. 12 Step principles and fellowship are included in the program and intended to be implemented while residing at Tara. Many of the staff are in recovery, having attended treatment at Tara and exemplify their "ownership" of what the program is today. Clients enter a family atmosphere and spiritual setting upon entering the program and can enjoy a life-changing Tara Experience when they are ready and able to engage in the recovery process. I have and will continue to refer loved ones to Tara Treatment Center. Keep up the great work!
Sober 6 years this month. Great professional staff, great food, great atmosphere
