ABOUT PATHWAYS, INC. IN ASHLAND, K.Y.

Pathways, Inc., located in Ashland, Ky., offers residential, detoxification, and outpatient treatment, crisis services, and DUI/alcohol education to children, adolescents, and adults struggling with drug or alcohol addiction, mental health, or developmental disabilities. Pathways has existed as a community-based organization since 1967, and serves 10 eastern Kentucky counties with over 40 locations.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

To be admitted, clients may either contact the facility by phone or by online chat on the Pathways website. Most clients remain in residential treatment for between ten days and two weeks.

The facility’s treatment program follows the 12-Step method. In addition to residential treatment, Pathways offers the following specialized treatment tracks: outpatient addiction services, intensive outpatient services, dual diagnosis, women’s treatment, victim advocacy services (for victims of rape or sexual assault), adolescent addiction services, and DUI assessment, education, referral, and treatment.

Throughout treatment, clients receive individual, group, and family therapy as well as case management, educational sessions, and referrals to vocational services and self-help groups. Child care, transportation, and educational programs are available upon request for women being treated in the women’s services program. Adolescents in treatment are eligible to receive school-based services if necessary.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

There is currently no information provided by Pathways regarding its treatment staff. However, two friends or family members of clients and one staff member polled by Best-rehabs.com gave the facility either four or five out of five stars for staff experience and training. One staff member of the facility gave Pathways a two out of five-star rating in this category.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements and related offerings. However, two friends or family members of clients and one staff member surveyed by Best-rehabs.com gave the facility either four or five out of five stars for when asked to rate accommodations and amenities. One staff member of the facility gave Pathways a two out of five-star rating in this category.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

On the facility’s Google page, there is an overall rating of 3.8 out of five stars based on four total reviews, indicating generally positive reviews. Alum J.R., who gave five stars, said that they had good experiences with Pathways despite difficulty scheduling appointments. J.R. wrote, “this place is really a good place and they help anyone they can.” T.P., another alum, supported that viewpoint and wrote, “The people are there to really help. Everyone is friendly and the meetings are awesome.”

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

At time of this writing, the two friends or family members polled by Best-rehabs.com gave positive reviews. The anonymous loved ones gave the facility four out of five stars for affordability, four and five stars for cleanliness, and three stars for exercise options. Loved ones praised the facility’s offered treatment, the friendly and helpful staff, and good counseling options. However, one loved one felt the facility was a bit understaffed. They added, “Caring staff even though they sometimes are overwhelmed, pretty good security, well maintained facilities, multiple locations.”

WHAT STAFF SAY

At the time of this writing there have been two staff members of Pathways polled by Best-rehabs.com. Both employees said they would recommend Pathways to a friend or family member seeking treatment. The anonymous staff members gave the facility four and five out of five stars for affordability, four and five stars for cleanliness, and one and five stars for exercise options. The staff members praised the facility’s giving of grants and other assistance are available to help pay for treatment. On anonymous staffer wrote, “Worked for 5 years and have seen a great amount of success from this facility very caring people.”

They felt that the facility could improve on its size, and one staff member said some staff members make “major errors” in client care and are burned out.

FINANCING

There is currently no information provided by Pathways Ashland regarding its costs. However, the facility website states that clients of Sterling, Ky. location who do not have health insurance to cover addiction treatment will pay according to a sliding fee scale.
