ABOUT ACADIANA ADDICTION CENTER
Acadiana Addiction Center, based in Lafayette, La., offers residential, outpatient, and detoxification programs for adults struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon entry clients undergo an assessment that is used to develop an individualized treatment plan. Acadiana prides itself on a holistic treatment approach, designed to treat mind, body, and spirit. Individual counselors are assigned to clients.
The residential treatment program incorporates 12-step meetings, individual and group therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and other evidence-based practices. Treatment typically lasts 30 to 90 days but varies depending on the individual’s needs.
Clients have the opportunity to participate in recreational activities including yoga, acupuncture, Pilates, and Tai Chi.
Educational programs include relapse prevention, self-esteem enhancement, effective communication, and other topics. Specialized groups cover anger management and coping skills. The facility encourages loved ones to be involved in weekly educational programs.
The intensive outpatient program (IOP) meets for a minimum of ten hours per week and typically last for eight weeks. IOP focuses on 12-step meetings.
Following the completion of treatment Acadiana works with clients on continuing care plans to determine the next step of treatment and create a discharge plan.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The treatment team includes admissions counselors, substance abuse technicians, medical doctors, nurses, and psychiatrists. The eight individuals polled by Best-rehabs.com gave the staff’s level of experience an excellent average rating of 4.6 out of five stars.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Official photographs from Acadiana’s website show meeting spaces, a kitchen, and an outdoor pool. Spacious outdoor spaces lead to a gazebo on the edge of a pond and a wooded area. A gym has treadmills and weight lifting machines and bedrooms come with a twin sized bed.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The two alumni responding polled by Best-rehabs.com gave positive reviews. Four- and five- out of five-star ratings were left for the staff’s level of training and experience, treatment effectiveness, affordability, and cleanliness. Both alumni said they would recommend the facility to others. “This is where I got my life back,” wrote alum Robert, adding: “Taught me how to live life like an adult with life on life terms.”
Despite praised for numerous metrics, both alumni rated the facility’s holistic offerings and exercise and leisure options poorly, not giving either metric a rating above three stars. “The staff and food are great,” an anonymous alum wrote, but said that the facility needed, “more options for things to do and a little more freedom with the choices.”
On Acadiana’s Facebook page, which the facility can manage, 43 reviewers gave the facility an average rating of 4.6 out of five stars.[1]
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
Seven loved ones surveyed by Best-rehabs.com gave mostly positive reviews with several calling staff friendly and professional. One anonymous reviewer wrote that while treatment didn’t work for her father, “It may, however, work for a patient that is more religiously-driven and willing to accept care.”
Another loved one wrote: “I find that this facility really cared about my loved one. The never gave up on them, and treated her with respect.” When asked if they would recommend the facility, six loved ones gave an average rating of 4.5 out of five stars. Additionally, six loved ones also gave high average ratings of 4.5 stars for the staff’s level of training and experience, four stars for exercise and leisure options, four stars for counseling options, and 3.8 stars for cleanliness.
FINANCING
According to Acadiana’s website, the facility accepts self-pay and private insurance plans including United Health Care, Beacom Health Options, Humana, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Aetna.
