ABOUT HUDSON HEALTH SERVICES, INC.
Located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore in the community of Salisbury, Hudson Health Services provides acute inpatient and partial hospitalization programs for adults struggling with addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders. On-site, medically-supervised detoxification services are offered, as well as supportive housing. The nonprofit facility has been in operation for more than 35 years.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment at Hudson Health Services, Inc. begins with an initial assessment with medical and psychiatric staff members. THe treatment team develops an individualized treatment plan using the Matrix Model for recovery, which prioritizes education, evidence-based individual and group therapy, and initiation in 12-step practices. Clients in need of detox services are immediately admitted to the program.
Clients are enrolled in the residential program. During treatment, clients receive medication management services along with treatment for co-occurring issues. Treatment consists of individual counseling and group therapy sessions each day. Alternative and recreational therapy treatments are available as well including music therapy (drumming). Clients may also be enrolled in the partial hospitalization program where they receive similar treatment methods in a less structured environment.
After detoxification (as needed) and stabilization through the short-term acute inpatient program, clients are referred to the partial hospitalization program (PHP). Unlike many comparable day programs, Hudson Health PHP clients stay overnight at the facility, ensuring a structured, supportive environment in the evening. Clients continue to participate in 12-step fellowship, counseling, and educational sessions which address addictive behaviors and unhealthy thought patterns.
Peer support, family sessions, and alternative therapy groups are also incorporated. Two of the facility’s special holistic offerings are “Holy Yoga,” with spiritual and physical practices, and “Drumming Off Drugs.” The latter, led by staff members certified in the therapeutic practice, helps clients in areas such as anxiety and depression reduction, group cohesion, ability to follow instructions, and increased self-confidence.
To assist clients in transitioning back into the community, supportive housing is available to PHP alumni. Clients are required to gain employment, attend 12-step meetings, and participate in on-site group sessions. Family involvement is encouraged throughout treatment, and family support services are available including counseling.
