ABOUT BALDPATE HOSPITAL

Located on 80 wooded acres in Georgetown, Mass., about 30 miles north of Boston, Baldpate Hospital is a Joint Commission approved facility that offers detoxification services, treatment for co-occurring disorders, and Suboxone for opiate addiction.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Clients in need of detoxification receive supervised medical care. According to the hospital’s website, nearly all detox programs provide medications to alleviate withdrawal symptoms. The hospital makes use of benzodiazepines to treat alcoholism and Suboxone to treat opiate addiction.

In addition to detox services, Baldpate Hospital treats major mental illnesses like depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorders. Treatment plans are individualized to suit each client’s specific needs.

Towards the end of treatment, trained social workers confer with each client to develop an effective aftercare plan.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Alumni reviews indicate that Baldpate Hospital is an effective, well-run facility staffed with knowledgeable and respectful professionals. Former clients surveyed by Best-rehabs.com gave the facility consistently high ratings for treatment effectiveness, accommodations and amenities, and staff support. “Very informative and knowledge regarding addiction, dual diagnosis, medication regulation, kind, caring, staff members who are extraordinarily encouraging and motivating,” Kelley wrote. “I felt 100% comfortable from the moment I was admitted to the day I was discharged.”

John, another alum, described Baldpate Hospital as “a hidden gem among rehabs and detoxes,” whereas Traci found the staff “so helpful.” “We learned a lot about our disease, lots of meetings and communication,” she added. And alum R.E.R. described Baldpate as a “Good facility, with consistent counseling.”

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

One Best-rehabs.com survey respondent expressed frustration over the short-term treatment model their loved one took part in as well as with the overall state of mental health care. “It was a great facility for duel diagnosis, however like a lot of the same type of facilities in the area your health insurance or lack of takes priority over the amount of treatment, (or length of stay) the patient receives,” R.P. explained to Best-rehabs.com.

  • Baldpate Hospital is a small, quaint facility in the woods of Georgetown, MA and is a hidden gem among rehabs and detoxes. It's unfortunate that insurance companies now dictate the length of stay at treatment facilities in Massachusetts. It's the same everywhere, not just t Baldpate. Our legislators need to instead of having some flunkie at an insurance company make medical decisions that affect the lives of people that need help longer than the five days that is common among treatment centers in Massachusetts.

  • Very informative and knowledge regarding addiction, dual diagnosis, medication regulation, kind, caring, staff members who are extraordinarily encouraging and motivating. I felt 100% comfortable from the moment I was admitted to the day I was discharged. Each staff member from the kitchen staff to the clinical staff went above and beyond my expectations as to try and treat me as a human being with feelings! They showed the utmost respect towards me and any issue I presented to them. They spent quality time in listening, explaining, comforting me, and worked diligently with me before discharge to plan relapse prevention, positive coping skills, outside resources were also provided. Baldpate was very efficient

  • COST was a strength. Effectiveness not so much. It was a great facility for duel diagnosis, however like a lot of the same type of facilities in the area your health insurance or lack of takes priority over the amount of treatment,(or length of stay) the patient receives.
