TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
The Prevention and Recovery Center’s many outpatient services include intervention, evaluation and monitoring, individual and group therapy, medication management, and mental health treatment. Unique to the facility, medication management services also help clients to continue the use of their medications while controlling their access to it, making it difficult to abuse medications.
With an emphasis on relapse prevention, the group therapy component of treatment addresses the various mental health disorders that often accompany addiction, like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and depression. By treating these co-occurring disorders, clients can address the underlying factors of their addiction for a longer-lasting recovery.
Mount Auburn also runs specialized groups for teens, women, men, DUI/DWI offenders, and individuals in the criminal justice system. DUI/DWI treatment programs are limited within the state, as only 14.6% of facilities in Massachusetts offer such programs. These programs make it possible for clients to address their legal requirements for license reinstatement while seeking treatment for addiction.
The treatment programs ensure that community supports are in place to facilitate a client’s smooth transition and continuous recovery upon discharge. While there is not a defined aftercare program, the facility integrates discharge planning into its treatment approach.
