ABOUT BEAUTERRE RECOVERY INSTITUTE
Located on 180 acres of pasturage, only an hour south of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Beauterre Recovery Institute is a holistic addiction rehab center for adults experiencing life difficulties stemming from substance use. It is also amongst the 180 (48.6 percent) centers in the state with specifically-tailored programming for co-occurring mental health disorders.
The CARF-accredited center offers residential treatment, a specialized track for professionals, and an intensive relapse track for alumni, each of which use evidence-based and holistic treatment approaches.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
All clients start with a series of medical, chemical, psychological, and medication assessments which collectively lay the groundwork for a personalized treatment plan.
Following these assessments, clients are typically met with structured and customized days scheduled with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), support groups to address sensitive topics such as grief and loss, motivational interviewing (MI), health education, relapse prevention, and, when needed, medication management and pharmacological testing.
In addition, clients are immersed in the principles and practices of 12-Step. Clients in the specialized program for professionals also address unique work-related issues that may contribute to addictive behavior.
In addition to these evidence-based and educational therapies, the center offers an impressive range of holistic therapies designed to increase each client’s physical and mental health. These include biofeedback sessions, equine therapy, yoga, acupuncture, mindfulness mediation, and massage therapy. Clients are also allotted time for pure recreation, as the 180-acre campus boasts walking trails, basketball and tennis courts, a fitness center, a driving range, and more.
Families are invited regularly throughout the week for education and therapy sessions. Loved ones may also visit on weekends for visitation. After completing treatment, clients receive additional online and phone support for up to a year.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The center’s medical director is an addiction psychiatrist board-certified in addiction medicine, psychiatry, and addiction psychiatry. Other treatment staff members include a licensed psychiatrist, a board-certified nursing manager, and a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine with expertise in acupuncture, nutrition, and aromatherapy.
In Minnesota, 99.2 percent of all substance abuse treatment facilities have continuing education requirements for staff. The sole alum polled by Best-rehabs.com to date awarded the staff’s level of experience and training five out of five stars.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Residents stay in either single or double rooms which come fully furnished with a queen-sized bed, a desk, and a private bath. There are also lounges with games and movies on each floor throughout the residence. Meals, prepared by the facility’s chef daily, can accommodate special dietary requests such as allergies, vegetarian, vegan, and Kosher. The sole Best-rehabs.com respondent to date gave accommodations and amenities, as well as the facility’s cleanliness, five-star ratings.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
At the time of this writing, the single Best-rehabs.com survey respondent reported having a “wonderful painless experience” credited to a “caring and knowledgeable” staff. In addition, the anonymous former client gave exclusively five-star ratings for over a dozen metrics evaluated including the counseling options, the treatment for co-occurring disorders, and the family programming.
Google reviewers shared mostly positive experiences as well, though there were some exceptions for an average rating of 3.3 out of five stars based on 20 reviews.[1] “Beauterre didn’t just save my life from drugs and addiction, it opened my mind, heart and soul to who I am and who I want to be,” former client S.V. wrote. “This facility is beyond amazing…the staff, the accommodations, the program…it was a retreat.” Celebrating her days in sobriety, alum L.T. added: “They treated you like a person and not just a number.”
Despite the above-average overall rating, others were unimpressed. Reviewer S.M. referred to Beauterre as “an upscale spa, not a treatment facility that understands mental health, addiction or how mental health and addiction can intertwine with each other,” while J.V. believed it to be an “Unbelievably inept organization,” citing a lack of medical personnel and negligence towards clients.
FINANCING
This center is in-network with some major insurance plans – such as BlueCross BlueShield and United Healthcare – and offers financing options through its partnership with American HealthCare Lending. The sole alum polled by Best-rehabs.com to date awarded five out of five stars for the center’s affordability.
