ABOUT MONTANA CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY CENTER IN BUTTE, MT

Montana Chemical Dependency Center (MCDC), located in Butte, Mont., offers residential and detoxification treatment to men and women struggling with substance abuse and/or co-occurring mental health disorders. MCDC was founded in 1993 and moved into their current facility in 2014.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

To be admitted, clients must be referred by a licensed addictions counselor (LAC). MCDC does not accept walk-ins. According to the facility website, length of treatment varies by individual and can last up to 35 days or more.

The facility’s treatment program is client-centered, outcome-informed, and includes an individualized treatment plan for each client. Throughout treatment, clients receive individual and group therapy, relapse prevention planning and education, transition planning, access to Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous classes, spiritual opportunities, and infectious disease surveillance. Clients in need of detoxification may receive medication at the facility under the care of a medical doctor.

A typical day at MCDC begins with breakfast and a medical screening followed by group therapy, nurse education, fitness education, and lunch. After lunch, clients complete chores and have another medical screening followed by group therapy, independent study time, dinner, 12-step meetings, guided imagery, and quiet time before bed.

  • It is free to those with no resources. The staff is sicker than that clients. Someone had a morphine pump and was always nodding out, and the counselors were rude and insulting to the clients always threatening them with writing them up, etc. I also interned there as an addiction counselor and at the staff meetings they showed complete disrespect towards the clients. Don't go it is a waste of time. The success rate is very low.
