ABOUT SYRACUSE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH – THE GREEN STREET RESIDENCE
Established in 1920, Syracuse Behavioral Health (SBH) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting Central New York families and individuals facing substance abuse challenges. The Green Street Residence, one of SBH’s several treatment centers, offers supportive and sober housing exclusively for men diagnosed with substance use disorders who lack a suitable living environment conducive to recovery.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon admission, clients are assigned a primary counselor to facilitate their transition and recovery. Residents typically commit to a stay of six to nine months at The Green Street Residence, during which they focus on acquiring the skills and confidence necessary for reintegrating into society as sober and productive citizens.
Despite being a sober living facility, The Green Street Residence provides residents with access to a range of therapeutic, educational, and vocational opportunities. Clients may enroll in outpatient treatment programs and participate in meetings focused on developing essential life skills. Educational programming addresses common client concerns such as HIV/AIDS, conflict de-escalation, non-violent alternatives, volunteerism, and job readiness. The facility also hosts on-site 12-step meetings and other discussion forums.

The Green Street Residence offers a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, accommodating up to 28 male residents at a time. Clients share bedrooms and have access to fully furnished common areas equipped with televisions and leather furniture. Residents come together to prepare and enjoy communal dinners every evening.

The reviewer listed “medicine” as a facility strength and identified no weaknesses. “I like their values,” the staff member told Rehab.com.
