Alta Behavioral Healthcare in Youngstown, Ohio, provides behavioral health care to children, adolescent, and families. The Alta Care Group, which oversees Alta Behavioral Healthcare, services an average of nearly 3,000 children, young adults, and families each year. Clients will receive an assessment during the first two appointments, either on-site at a Alta Behavioral Healthcare office or at a school or alternative location as needed. The assessment may include a parent/guardian, school staff, pediatrician, or family members.

Alta Behavioral Healthcare offers individual, group, and family counseling that are office-, school-, or home-based. The facility also provides medication management, psychiatric evaluations, case management, and school-based consultation services. Early childhood mental health programming focuses on developing problem-solving strategies, anger management, and parent-child relationships.

The center also offers crisis intervention services that include a mental health crisis line available 24/7.

The facility’s Transition to Independence Program (TIP) for young adults aged 16 to 21 provides education on transitioning to adulthood. The Trauma Recovery Service is led by certified trauma professionals. The Camp Challenge is a five-week summer program for youth between ages six to 12 that incorporates behavior modification and cognitive behavioral therapy.


Alta Behavioral Healthcare employs 55 people including a medical director, licensed professional clinical counselors, licensed professional counselors, and licensed social workers.


Though alumni have not yet given feedback regarding Alta Behavioral Healthcare services, six reviewers on Google gave the facility an overall four out of five stars. One-star reviewer M.B. reported long wait times. [1]


The sole loved one responding to a poll to date gave the facility mostly positive feedback. The anonymous reviewer gave Alta three- and four- star ratings for the center’s affordability, counseling options, treatment for co-occurring disorders, and family participation. They wrote that Alta had a positive environment but that the facility would benefit from “Faster services and more workers.”
