At Palmer’s Tulsa Women and Children’s Center (TWWC), chemically dependent pregnant women and mothers receive comprehensive residential substance abuse treatment in a family-friendly environment. Women 18 years of age and above are invited to bring children under the age of 12 to live with them during treatment. Clients receive parenting education as well as addiction treatment services while children and toddlers participate in on-site childcare programming.
ABOUT PALMER’S TULSA WOMEN AND CHILDREN’S CENTER
Palmer’s Tulsa Women and Children’s Center (TWCC) in Tulsa, Okla. is a residential and outpatient facility specifically catering to women who have children or are pregnant, and are struggling with substance abuse disorders. TWCC allows women to bring their children (up to age 12) while they undergo treatment. Housed in a sprawling, freestanding facility located a few miles from downtown Tulsa, the state-funded rehab has been offering programs to women since 1989.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment at TWCC is focused on helping families put the cycle of addiction behind them. Clients hoping to be admitted are assessed for eligibility, and then put on a waiting list with priority status given to women who are pregnant and/or have HIV or Hepatitis C as well as women with dependent children.
The residential program has a dual focus on substance abuse treatment and parenting skills. With their children safely cared for in the on-site child care center/school, the women participate in 35 hours per week of individualized addiction treatment including medical and psychiatric services, mental health therapy, trauma therapy, domestic violence counseling, and case management. Every week clients also receive seven hours of parenting instruction, four hours of process group, and are encouraged to participate in art therapy and group activities.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The treatment team includes registered nurses, physicians and a psychiatrist, as well as certified substance abuse counselors (CSAC), licensed professional counselors (LPC), licensed family and children therapists, certified case managers, and recreational therapists. The three individuals polled by Best-rehabs.com to date rated the staff’s level of training and experience two perfect five-star ratings and a four-star rating.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
At the 52-bed facility, smoking is prohibited and no tobacco products of any kind are allowed on campus. Activities for clients are planned for weekends.

Alumni reviews of TWCC are positive. The two alumni polled by Best-rehabs.com to date on overall treatment effectiveness gave Palmer a four- and five-star rating. Tracy, who chose the facility so her young son could stay with her, called the center “clean and safe,” and the counselors “excellent.” Her only complaint was that the bedrooms were small, the bathrooms shared, and the dining room noisy.
On Google, Palmer received a perfect five-star rating from one alum to date,[1] while on Facebook, 12 reviewers to date rated the facility an average 4.8 out of five stars.[2] Alumni were grateful for the program and staff.
