ABOUT CHAMBERSBURG HOSPITAL – SUMMIT BEHAVIORAL HEALTH (OUTPATIENT)

Through multiple centers located in south-central Pennsylvania, nonprofit Summit Health provides a wide range of healthcare services for patients of all ages. The Summit Behavioral Health clinic in Chambersburg, Penn., exclusively offers outpatient care for adults and adolescents who are struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. In order to be eligible for treatment, clients must have a referral from a family physician.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to Summit Behavioral Health’s website, clients complete an initial assessment form with a drug abuse screening test or alcohol use disorders identification test. They then undergo a diagnostic evaluation to help determine the most appropriate course of treatment. Based on the findings, the clinical team designs a customized plan for each client that may incorporate individual, group, and family therapy as well as couples therapy. Medication is prescribed and managed as necessary. Therapists may utilize play therapy when treating younger patients.

The center provides specialized programming for older adults. It also hosts support groups for family members of clients undergoing treatment.
