ABOUT NEWPORT HOSPITAL – PSYCHIATRY AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES
A part of the Lifespan healthcare system, Newport Hospital runs an inpatient treatment and a partial hospitalization (PHP) program through its psychiatry and behavioral health department. In addition to treating substance abuse and co-occurring disorders, the facility addresses a wide range of mental health concerns, including eating disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, and others.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon intake, all clients receive a comprehensive medical and psychiatric evaluation so that the clinical team may create an individualized treatment plan. Clients who are in crisis or require treatment for severe disorders may be referred to the hospital’s inpatient unit, which is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of medical specialists.
The center’s PHP program is typically recommended for clients who do not require inpatient care but could still benefit from a high level of structure. Clients may attend the program for up to two weeks, meeting six hours a day, five days a week. Treatment is mostly group-therapy based, but, based on the individual client’s needs, programming may also include individual counseling, medication management, art therapy, and workshops on social and life skills.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The treatment team for the Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Services unit at Newport Hospital includes a psychiatrist, a psychiatric APRN, a psychologist, and a social worker.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
The center’s inpatient unit can accommodate up to 15 patients at a time. Clients enrolled in the PHP program may use the cafeteria for meals and snacks, and can take advantage of free on-site parking.
