ABOUT UT SOUTHWESTERN MEDICAL CENTER – ADULT PSYCHIATRY
In operation since 1943, the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas offers a range of evidence-based practices and solutions to help adults dealing with all types of mental health disorders. These include anxiety disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, schizophrenia, social phobia, depression, and more.
The outpatient clinic’s hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
This psychiatry unit aims to improve a person’s level of functioning and overall quality of life. Treatment may include psychotherapy in private and group settings, relationship and marital counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and mindfulness training.
In more extreme cases, repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) may also be used in treatment.
