ABOUT ARIZONA ADDICTION RECOVERY CENTER
Located in Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona Addiction Recovery Center (AARC) provides a continuum of treatment services for individuals struggling with substance use and co-occurring disorders. Separate programs are available for young adults ages 18 to 35 and for older adults ages 35 and up.
Treatment options include medical detox, residential care, a partial hospitalization program (PHP), an intensive outpatient program (IOP), aftercare, and sober living. AARC is among 109 substance abuse facilities in Arizona with specially tailored programs for young adults.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon admission, clients undergo a comprehensive evaluation to determine the appropriate level of care. Individuals who require stabilization from opioid dependency may undergo medication-assisted treatment (MAT), including Suboxone and Subutex, to ease the symptoms of withdrawal.
Residential treatment is often the next step, which lasts from 30 days to nine months. The program combines a range of traditional modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), 12-step work, creative arts therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR), and family engagement. Clinical staff also incorporate elements of life coaching and emphasize the importance of “sober fun.”
AARC’s PHP may be utilized as a step-down from the residential program. Clients spend a full day in treatment and return home at the end of the day. IOP offers even more flexibility.
As clients near discharge, aftercare coordinators create a transition plan, which addresses life goals and relapse prevention. Clients also have access to AARC’s comprehensive network of sober living facilities.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
Accredited by The Joint Commission, AARC offers a 1:5 staff-to-client ratio. The treatment team includes physicians and other clinical staff.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
AARC’s homelike residential facilities accommodate 33 individuals in both shared and private bedrooms. All facilities include modern kitchens and tastefully furnished common areas. Clients have access to an on-site swimming pool and exercise equipment, as well as engage in recreational activities, such as hiking, horseback riding, and rock climbing.

As a strength of the facility, Rachel cited the combination of 12-step work and holistic treatments. She wrote: “From the first day I was treated as a unique individual and was introduced to new recovery approaches in a way that seemed very inviting.”
On secondary review sites, the facility received positive ratings: 4.7 out of five stars based on 26 reviews on Google reviews; five stars based on four reviews on Facebook, which the organization can manage; and five stars based on four not recommended reviews on Yelp. [1] [2] [3] Reviewers frequently commended the knowledgeable, patient, and compassionate staff and an effective treatment that went above- and-beyond expectations. An isolated negative comment concerned unfair marketing claims.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

While loved one G.N.T. was critical of the facility’s cost, the other loved one gave perfect five-star ratings for the facility’s counseling options, as well as a four-star rating for the level of family participation. They offered a more moderate three-star rating for the facility’s co-occurring treatment.
The anonymous respondent highlighted the “good care”, but took issue with some of the staff: “Experience wasn’t always prominent in workers.”
