Elm Tree Recovery Tempe Arizona

Elm Tree Recovery clients receive 90 days of intensive inpatient treatment tailored to young people in recovery. We address and treat the roots of our clients’ disorders and show them how to achieve sustained, long term sobriety by teaching them the tools needed to transition from treatment to recovery. Our rehabilitation program addresses not only drugs and alcohol, but also treatment for dual diagnosis, trauma recovery, and other compulsive behaviors.

The layout of our program is to create an authentic community where recovery and learning become one. Elm Tree is located just blocks away from the Tempe campus of Arizona State University. Public transportation allows our clients access to other major universities and community colleges in the Phoenix metro area. Individuals at Elm Tree develop the skills needed to emerge into their adult life.

ABOUT ELM TREE RECOVERY

Opened in the Spring of 2017, Elm Tree Recovery provides a residential treatment program to young adults from ages 17 to 28 who are struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring mental health disorders. Located in Tempe, Ariz., the facility integrates clinical services with academic involvement to treat addiction and promote academic achievement. If necessary, the facility provides social detoxification.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Before beginning treatment, clients speak with an admissions counselor via phone to ensure the facility is an appropriate program. Upon admission, clients may also undergo an initial substance abuse and psychiatric assessment to identify individual client needs. Clients must commit to at least 90 days of residential treatment in the supportive, academic community and be willing to pursue academic goals.

According to the facility’s website, Elm Tree Recovery provides a range of addiction programs, including the social detox model. Instead of giving clients detox medication, the center educates residents and utilizes holistic therapies to manage withdrawal symptoms.

Programming is designed to treat “the roots of our clients’ disorders and show them how to achieve sustained, long term sobriety.” To achieve this, treatment includes group and individual counseling sessions to identify any underlying factors that may contribute to addictive behavior. As a specialized program for young adults, the facility’s programming also addresses issues such as stress management, anxiety, an inability to cope, dealing with life changes, and trigger avoidance.

Clients may attend educational workshops on basic life skills, coping techniques, and developing tools for maintaining sobriety. In addition, Elm Tree Recovery may introduce clients to peer-led support networks, such as 12-Step or SMART Recovery. Clients are encouraged to attend meetings and study fellowship literature. Residents also participate in the Recovery Rising organization through Arizona State University, which coordinates social events, education, community service, support, and meetings for college students.

Clients with co-occurring mental health disorders typically receive ongoing psychiatric evaluations and medication management. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) may also be utilized to modify responses to traumatic events.

Unique to Elm Tree Recovery, academic integration serves as a key component to overall programming. While clients receive clinical treatment, residents are also expected to enroll in a nearby university, attend trade school, or obtain their G.E.D.

Following treatment, clients are able to participate in Elm Tree’s aftercare program, which complements and reinforces the progress made in rehab. Clients are able to live in the safety of a sober living home while pursuing an education or trade. Residents in the sober living homes have access to outpatient group therapy and coaching.
