Located in downtown Antioch in the East Bay region of Northern California, J. Cole Recovery Homes, Inc. offers residential treatment and sober-living facilities for men (18+) who struggle with substance abuse. Services are offered to private clients as well as clients involved in the criminal justice system. Treatment at J. Cole Recovery Homes, Inc. begins with a comprehensive assessment. Clients are assessed and enrolled in an acclamation program that lasts up to 7 days. A team of counselors and medical personnel help the client develop a comprehensive care and recovery plan for his or her treatment including a physical, a TB test, and long-term treatment planning. After the 7-day acclimation period, clients are enrolled in the long-term residential care program and are allowed to have visitors.

Treatment is firmly rooted in the 12-steps principles, and typically lasts between 90 and 180 days, depending on the individual resident’s needs. Residents participate in 12-steps meetings including AA and NA classes. They also participate in individual and group counseling sessions on a daily basis.

The facility provides a variety of educational and support classes that focus on life skills development, money management, and vocational skills. Relapse prevention and educational sessions on a variety of self-help topics are offered to develop the necessary skills to avoid relapses. The center also notes that it offers individual counseling, though the only alum polled by Best-rehabs.com to date noted that he did not receive individual counseling.

Family counseling does not appear to be offered, but educational sessions for families are. Cooking and completing chores are integral parts of the recovery program. Clients also receive relapse prevention and job search support to help facilitate a successful transition back into the community. Clients who successfully complete the residential program may enter a transitional living facility, where they are required to continue to participate in 12-step programming and they may work full-time.

The J. Cole Recovery Homes, Inc. has a staff-to-client ratio of 1:4, and many staff members are themselves in recovery. Additionally, partnerships with local medical facilities make medical staff available to clients. There are also counselors available for group and individual counseling practices.
