Our objective as a sober living facility is to provide a secure, sober, and responsible environment to aid in the transition of individuals struggling with alcohol and drug addiction into a healthy and productive lifestyle.
ABOUT MONARCH RECOVERY OF SANTA BARBARA
In the charming coastal town of Santa Barbara, California, Monarch Recovery operates two separate, gender-specific sober living homes. Monarch does not provide detoxification services but can offer referrals to local detox centers.
If Monarch is not suitable for a particular client, the organization commits to assisting that client in finding an alternative sober living facility in the area.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
A stay at Monarch aims to address the mental, physical, and spiritual aspects of addiction and recovery. The founders, who have achieved long-term sobriety themselves, incorporate a philosophy that combines the principles of the 12-Step program with Eastern spirituality, including yoga and meditation.
Clients are required to attend 12-Step meetings and house meetings. They also have access to individual and group therapy, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
The recovery homes are intentionally designed as tranquil spaces without distractions, allowing clients to smoothly reintegrate into daily life with dignity. The center emphasizes the development of healthy habits, providing access to a wide range of outdoor activities and cultural experiences in the local area.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
At Monarch, the staff-to-client ratio is 1:3. The house manager, available on-site 24 hours a day, has over 20 years of sobriety. The staff can offer referrals to physicians, psychologists, and counselors if necessary.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
The facilities are situated on residential streets in the peaceful city of Santa Barbara. Monarch provides a total of nine beds, with two clients sharing each room in tastefully decorated, family-style surroundings.
The center includes amenities such as a library with recovery-related reading materials, a meditation room, an exercise space, laundry facilities, and computers with internet access. It is conveniently located near a surfing beach, as well as hiking and biking trails, yoga studios, theaters, and a farmer’s market. Monarch can also refer clients to massage therapists, nutritionists, physical trainers, and recovery assistants upon request.
A hot dinner is served each evening, and the kitchen is stocked with nutritious food. Residents are responsible for preparing their own breakfast and lunch.
Smoking is prohibited on the premises.
WHAT STAFF SAY
The only review received by Best-rehabs.com thus far was from Monarch employee Heather, who awarded the center a five-star rating for the effectiveness of its treatment, accommodations, and food quality. Heather wrote, “We have two beautiful homes, one for men and one for women. I absolutely love this job and being part of the residents’ recovery on a daily basis… residents are given a great opportunity to live and love a sober life.”
FINANCING
The cost of treatment is $3,000 per month, and the center does not accept insurance. However, it does offer financial assistance, covering less than 60 percent of the total treatment cost.
