At the Residential level of care, clients live on-site with 24-hour support and supervision. With 6 clients per home, Evolve is able to instill strength in our teens through physical, emotional and spiritual healing.
Evolve’s treatment focuses on adolescent Substance Abuse, Mental Health, PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Asperger’s, ODD, ADHD and OCD. Through DBT, we teach the skills to regulate emotions and improve impulse control.
Our evidence based treatment includes dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavioral analysis (ABA), 12-step support and family therapy. Clients receive regular individual sessions with their licensed primary therapist, psychiatric evaluations and psychological testing, if needed.
We maintain a setting that provides a sense of security, while simultaneously providing a nurturing environment that includes comfortable living quarters, school area, fully equipped gym, swimming pool, chef, ample grounds, basketball, tennis and/or volleyball courts, ping-pong and more.

Evolve Treatment Centers is a California-based organization that provides a continuum of treatment programs for adolescents (ages 12 to 17) struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring conditions. Evolve, among the 22.2 percent of substance abuse treatment facilities in the state with tailored programs for adolescents, operates two residential treatment facilities in Tarzana: Evolve Aura and Evolve Vanalden. TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Clients undergo an initial assessment for clinicians to form an individual recovery plan. Evolve Treatment Centers’ programming combines evidence-based treatment methods with 12-step immersion, as well as holistic and experiential treatments. The length of stay is determined by each resident’s needs.
Clients engage in ongoing individual and group counseling that utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). Sessions address underlying factors that may contribute to addictive behavior, such as family issues and co-occurring mental health concerns. To improve communication skills, identify strengths, and set recovery goals, clients also participate in process and commitment groups.
Residents regularly attend 12-step meetings and may perform step-work and fellowship study. Clients with co-occurring difficulties may meet with consulting psychiatrists for evaluations and ongoing medication management.
To involve loved ones in the recovery process, the facility provides both private family counseling sessions and multi-family support groups. Tarzana also provides academic instruction and testing through an online curriculum, as well as career and college counseling.
Evolve emphasizes alternative and experiential therapies to increase coping skills and promote healthy lifestyle changes. Residents participate in mindful-based stress reduction (MBSR) activities, including mindful walking, guided meditation, yoga sessions, and cooking classes, as well as equine therapy, surfing, exercise regimens, boxing classes, social outings, and music, art, and dancing therapy. Before discharge, clinicians coordinate with families and clients to form a comprehensive aftercare plan.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
Evolve Treatment Centers is accredited by The Joint Commission and the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). The multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, nurses, licensed therapists, masters-level interns, recovery coaches, and an on-site chef. The Tarzana facilities provide a client-to-staff ratio of 3:1.

Evolve Aura is an upscale English Tudor-styled private residence for six residents. Amenities include a swimming pool, tennis court, gym area, and large outdoor yard with gazebos. This homelike facility features a common room with large flat screen TV for movie nights, foosball table, large kitchen, breakfast and dinner nook, and school area with computers and printers.
Evolve Vanalden is a single-story gated estate set on a sprawling 6,000 sq. ft. plot for six residents. Along with well-appointed bedrooms and living areas, it features an on-site pool and hot tub, separate clubhouse for therapy sessions, fully-equipped gym, outdoor patios and grilling area, large greenspace for leisure and recreation, and school area with computers and printers.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Evolve Treatment Centers Tarzana received mixed feedback to date on secondary review sites. On Google reviews, one reviewer gave the facility a perfect five-star rating, while the other gave the facility one star. However, neither reviewer provided pertinent commentary to form any meaningful takeaways.

The sole loved one review available through secondary review sites to date was very positive. On the Los Angeles facility’s Facebook page, which Evolve can manage, the one loved one gave the facility a perfect five-star rating. “I am grateful for the compassion and understanding they showed us throughout his time there. He’s doing great now,” parent Michelle wrote.
WHAT STAFF SAY
The one staff member polled by Best-rehabs.com to date provided sterling ratings for all evaluated metrics, including perfect five-star ratings for the facility’s co-occurring disorder treatment, its counseling options, the level of family participation, and the staff’s level of staff training and experience. The employee considered the “intensive environment” as a strength of the facility.
