Paradigm Malibu is a renowned adolescent program that boasts the highest staff-to-client ratio in the country. Our residential rehab facility offers exceptional treatment for teenagers struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, as well as emotional health or behavioral health issues. Led by licensed mental health professionals specializing in co-occurring disorders, Paradigm Malibu provides a wide range of clinical services for youth treatment. ABOUT PARADIGM MALIBU
Situated in Malibu, California, between the Santa Monica Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, Paradigm Malibu is a luxury treatment facility that provides residential programming for teenagers facing substance abuse, process addictions, mental health concerns, and co-occurring disorders. While we offer treatment for both male and female clients, most therapy sessions are conducted in a gender-specific environment. Treatment duration varies, with most clients staying in the program for 30 to 45 days. Upon program completion, clients are eligible for free aftercare services.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon admission, clients undergo a comprehensive assessment that covers medical, psychological, biopsychosocial, nutritional, and educational aspects. The results of this assessment inform our clinical team in developing personalized care plans for each client. Our treatment plans typically include a combination of individual, group, and family therapy, as well as experiential and recreational treatment modalities such as expressive arts therapy, drama therapy, equine therapy, and narrative therapy. If deemed appropriate, clients may also be introduced to the 12-Steps.
While residents are expected to maintain clean rooms, there is no requirement for clients to complete chores or on-site work. We encourage participation in physical activities like hiking, surfing, yoga, and gym workouts. Additionally, Paradigm Malibu offers educational programming, and an on-site teacher works with clients’ schools to minimize disruptions in their education.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
At Paradigm Malibu, we are proud to maintain a staff-to-client ratio between 1:1 and 1:3. Our treatment team consists of physicians, psychiatrists, master’s-level therapists, teachers, a nurse, specialized therapists and wellness professionals, and a therapy dog.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
We strive to provide comfortable accommodations and a wide range of on-site amenities. Many of our bedrooms feature private patios and picturesque ocean views. While private bedrooms are available, we encourage residents to experience the peer-to-peer support that comes with shared living quarters. Our team of on-site chefs prepares daily meals and can accommodate various dietary needs including vegetarian, vegan, and kosher. Each of our four residential facilities offers unique features and amenities such as swimming pools, tennis courts, and beach access. All residents have access to holistic health treatments including massage and acupuncture.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
Based on feedback from ten loved ones, Paradigm Malibu has received mostly positive reviews, with the center’s treatment effectiveness receiving an average rating of 4.5 out of five stars. Surveyed parents consistently praised the skilled and compassionate staff, crediting their expertise for their children’s recovery. One parent noted, “They were compassionate, insightful and very knowledgeable in their field. They were able to communicate with her at her level (which is difficult to do). Now, she smiles (which we haven’t seen in quite a while).” Assistance with insurance approval was also highlighted by multiple reviewers, with one parent stating, “Great program! Truly helped my teenage son get and stay clean! Really worked with my insurance company to make sure the entire stay was accepted and taken care of!” Negative reviews were scarce, but there were concerns about the level of on-site supervision and aftercare, as well as the lack of psychiatric supervision and therapy.
