The Mary Lind – Royal Palms Recovery Center for men offers a structured, six-month residential recovery program with 12-step meetings, anger management, substance-abuse education and individual counseling. Clients, some of whom face illiteracy and unemployment, also participate in adult education classes, and computer and vocational training to prepare them for entry into the work force, and to better support their long-term recovery.
ABOUT SOCIAL MODEL RECOVERY CENTERS – ROYAL PALMS
Social Model Recovery Centers, formerly Mary Lind Recovery Centers, is a nonprofit organization operating 12 substance abuse treatment centers in Los Angeles and Orange County. One of those is the Royal Palms Recovery House, an all-male residential rehabilitation program. Detox is not available at this facility to date.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Clients are assigned a counselor who develops an individualized treatment plan. Duration of stay depends on each client’s personal circumstances.
Programming is heavily rooted in the 12-Steps. Individuals attend daily, on-site self-help meetings, seek sponsors, engage in fellowship, and attend mandatory daily groups as well as weekly individual counseling with case management. Clients are encouraged to regularly schedule visitation with loved ones.
Royal Palms facilitates life skills education, family reunification, anger management workshops, and process groups. Clients are also supplied with vocational and occupational training programs, such as computer skills training. Some of these skills are also developed through housekeeping and other chores. Residents may also seek out educational ventures.
Throughout the duration of stay, clients also engage in both recreational and community service activities. Discharge planning is essential to all care plans and includes referrals to community resources.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
According to the facility’s website, all counselors are CARF accredited and licensed by the Department of Health Care
Services in the State of California.
