True Recovery’s addiction treatment program was established in 2014 by a group of individuals who identified a gap in traditional treatment programs. Our supportive housing facilities are located within close proximity to the main campus in Costa Mesa and surrounding areas. ABOUT TRUE RECOVERY
Located in the city of Newport Beach, California, True Recovery provides gender-specific intensive outpatient (IOP) and partial hospitalization programs (PHP) for adult individuals struggling with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The facility also operates supportive sober living facilities for clients enrolled in outpatient treatment. True Recovery maintains small group sizes to ensure personalized attention and offers a range of holistic therapies, including musical therapy, along with evidence-based psychotherapy. Please note that medical detoxification services are not available on-site.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon admission, clients undergo a comprehensive substance use assessment and psychiatric evaluation that assist True Recovery clinicians in developing a personalized plan of care. The facility can facilitate transfers for clients needing initial care at an Orange County detox center. A typical PHP plan ranges from 30 to 90 days.
True Recovery employs evidence-based treatment modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). During treatment, clients receive individual and group therapy, family therapy, and education on the science of addiction, along with the development of life skills.
If necessary, True Recovery offers medication consultation and management for individuals with a dual diagnosis. Through pharmacogenomic testing, clinicians evaluate an individual’s response to psychotropic medication and make modifications as needed.
In addition to therapeutic and educational programming, clients are introduced to 12-step principles and alternative support groups.
Recreational and holistic therapies available at True Recovery include Tai Chi, yoga, nutritional counseling, acupuncture, and art therapy. The musical therapy program involves collaborative song creation with other musicians in recovery.
As an outpatient-based program, True Recovery places emphasis on pursuing employment or educational goals as an integral component of sustaining recovery. Alongside treatment programming, clients have access to employment and interviewing skill-development and assistance in enrolling in higher education. Case managers also serve as liaisons to court-related personnel.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
True Recovery’s multidisciplinary team comprises clinicians with masters-level and doctorate-level qualifications, including psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and certified addiction counselors. Several treatment staff members hold multiple certifications, including credentials for treating co-occurring disorders. The facility’s psychiatrist is board-certified in general psychiatry and addiction medicine. Certified alcohol and drug counselors supervise the sober housing facilities.

True Recovery’s supportive housing facilities, referred to as the Lodges, consist of supervised townhomes located in the adjacent community of Costa Mesa. These upscale residences offer private or semi-private bedrooms, well-furnished communal areas, modern kitchens, on-site laundry, and outdoor seating areas. True Recovery takes pride in offering pet-friendly accommodations. Residents of the Lodge undergo toxicology screenings every 72 hours.
Transportation is provided to and from True Recovery’s clinical building, which features spacious group therapy spaces, comfortable rooms for individual therapy, a yoga studio, a large kitchen, and activity rooms.
For an additional fee, clients have the option to access a gym membership, personal training services, and a personal chef.
