Bay House is a transitional recovery program for individuals with serious and persistent mental health problems, as well as substance abuse issues and dual diagnosis. Treatment is designed to help clients learn how to live a more independent lifestyle, focusing on life skills and therapeutic activities that promote self-sufficiency. After stay at the facility for 90 days, 80% of residents are able to move on to less restrictive environments, reducing hospitals visits and enhancing the quality of life for those who suffer.

ABOUT BAY HOUSE

Located in Sanford, Fla., just a few blocks from Lake Monroe, Bay House is a transitional residential facility for adults living with serious and persistent mental illness, including those who have received a dual diagnosis of substance use disorder. Bay House, previously known as Crossroads, is a member of Aspire Health Partners, which operates more than two dozen behavioral health facilities in Central Florida, among them detox services and youth programs.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Treatment plans at Bay House are individualized and emphasize personal empowerment. Standard care components include individual counseling, educational and therapy groups, medication management, life skills training, and training in healthy leisure activities. Clients typically remain at the Seminole County rehab for 90 days.

Clients may participate, as appropriate, in groups address co-occurring disorders, crisis intervention, or preparation for community re-integration. Life skills workshops focus on developing independence through learning about the transportation system, budgeting, cleaning, hygiene, and shopping. Access to other Aspire day programs is also available, offering, among other services, employment support

According to the Bay House webpage on Aspire Health’s website, the 12-bed residence offers shared double rooms and comfortable common areas. Three of the four individuals polled by Best-rehabs.com to date offered consistently high ratings for accommodations, while one alum chose low ones. Garnering the most agreement was maintenance, while activities received the lowest average rating.

He reported choosing the facility for its financial support, but expressed concerns about a lack of “medical care of any significance” and “hostility” from other patients. He rated treatment effectiveness three stars.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

Three family members and friends polled by Best-rehabs.com leaned positive overall, including one more moderate. This loved one expressed appreciation for the environment and no-cost treatment, but reported that it was not successful. The others indicated their loved ones experienced recovery. One cited a “high success rate” and another “productive tools” as strengths.

The three asked to rate family participation gave four and five stars, but the two polled on holistic offerings were split between one and four stars. Affordability received four and five stars from three loved ones.

FINANCING

Aspire Health Partners accepts more than a dozen insurance plans, including Medicaid, and screens clients for eligibility for a cost discount or other support. The nonprofit agency receives government funding and is a United Way partner.

    Nice environment; free. I don't know if it is the facilities fault but it failed my loved one who went back to drugs. As described by loved one, the treatment plan seemed repetitive.
