ABOUT COLISEUM MEDICAL CENTERS – SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES
Coliseum Health System operates two hospitals in Macon, Georgia. Among the network’s provisions is a center for behavioral health that provides a range of services for psychiatric disorders, plus treatment for substance use disorder. Substance use programming consists of inpatient detox and outpatient treatment at a variety of intensities, plus aftercare services.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Coliseum’s addiction treatment services are based on the 12-Steps as well as education about recovery and addiction.
Detox is medically monitored for the client’s comfort and safety. While they’re staying at the hospital, detoxing clients participate in classes, groups, and activities to introduce them to recovery and help them to understand addiction and relapse-prevention techniques.
Outpatient care is offered in two treatment tracks: a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and an intensive outpatient program (IOP). The PHP runs Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. and includes a weekly family day. The IOP is on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings only, from 7 a.m. until 11.45 a.m. Clients are required to attend both on-site and off-site 12-step meetings. During their treatment, all clients work on discharge plans to ensure a smooth transition to life after treatment. A cornerstone of these plans is a weekly aftercare meeting, held on-site and offered free of charge.
