About WellStar Cobb Hospital
WellStar Health System operates 11 hospitals and eight urgent care centers in Georgia. WellStar Cobb Hospital, located 20 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta, is a medical hospital that offers assistance with psychiatric emergencies, as well as provides a partial hospitalization program (PHP), an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and a residential treatment for clients seeking treatment for substance abuse. Treatment & Assessment
All new admissions to the behavioral-health wing of WellStar Cobb Hospital are overseen by a psychiatrist. Following admission, a multidisciplinary team puts together an individualized treatment plan, taking into account the medical and biochemical factors of each client’s condition. Admissions for adults can be facilitated at any time.
Treatment consists of psychotherapy, medication management, and group work. Clients can receive 24-hour observation and assessments to identify key concerns. Clients also participate in talk therapy and recreational therapy. Education courses are used as well. Aftercare planning is integrated into the process.
Clients and their families can participate in workshops to help clients learn sober living skills. Workshops are held on a periodic basis, but education courses are always available. Clients are encouraged to finish as many education courses as possible to get the most benefit out of the program.
Clients also participate in recreational therapy programs to promote holistic development. There are a range of activities to participate in. Recreational therapy is worked into each client’s treatment schedule based on his or her ability to participate and treatment needs.
Family involvement is strongly encouraged throughout the treatment process. Family counseling is offered to help clients rebuild relationships. As clients prepare to transition out of treatment, they work with qualified aftercare planning case managers to develop a plan for continued sober living.

The treatment staff at WellStar Cobb Hospital consists of nursing staff, physicians, and psychiatric specialists. A range of other staff members may be on hand in the other areas of the hospital. All staff members have the appropriate licensure and accreditations for their fields.
