Located in Maywood, Illinois, the Way Back Inn was established in 1974 and later merged with the Grateful House in 2002. It is a rehabilitation clinic that offers residential, outpatient (OP), and partial hospitalization (PHP) programs to adult men and women who are struggling with substance abuse.

Treatment and Assessment

The Way Back Inn provides specialized gender programming for both men and women, with similar treatment options. Depending on the needs of the client, they offer a 90-day chemical dependency track and a six-month dual-diagnosis track.

Treatment at The Way Back Inn includes 12-step groups, individual and group therapy, and a weekly family group with education for loved ones. The facility utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing (MI) in individual treatment plans. They also offer special programs to assist clients in finding employment and obtaining GEDs. In addition, the women’s residential program includes group therapy on domestic violence.

After residential care, clients can participate in aftercare programming focused on relapse prevention. The outpatient program offers weekly group and individual therapy five hours per week in the mornings and evenings, along with family education classes and 12-step meetings. Specialized outpatient services are available for Polish Americans and military clientele.

The Way Back Inn also provides DUI risk education and evaluations within seven business days. They also offer treatment for gambling addiction for both men and women.

Staff Credentials

The multidisciplinary team at The Way Back Inn includes medical doctors, nurses, a clinical psychologist, master’s level counselors, licensed clinical professional counselors, CADC- and gambling-certified counselors, and a registered dietitian.

Although limited information is available about the accommodations and amenities at The Way Back Inn, one alum rated the facility highly in terms of cleanliness and maintenance, exercise and leisure, and accommodations. They described the residences as “well maintained.”

This anonymous alum highly recommended The Way Back Inn, giving it a perfect five-star rating for various aspects, including family participation, affordability, and staff’s level of training and experience. The alum described the staff and internship program as “great” and mentioned a “good recovery rate” at the facility.

Reviews on third-party sites, such as Google and Citehealth, were mostly positive. Reviewers praised the staff and the clean facility, with one anonymous alum stating that the staff is “very caring” and the facility is “very clean.”

On The Way Back Inn’s Facebook page, which is managed by the facility, four reviewers gave perfect five-star ratings. Many of the reviewers credited the facility with positively changing their lives.

Financing

The cost for the DUI program at The Way Back Inn is $250, while other fees are based on individual client needs. Payments can be made in cash, check, or credit card. The Way Back Inn accepts some private insurances, as well as state insurance and Access to Recovery vouchers.
