The Way Back Inn

Located in Maywood, Ill., founded in 1974 and later merging with the Grateful House in 2002, the Way Back Inn is a rehabilitation clinic offering residential, outpatient (OP), and partial hospitalization (PHP) programs to adult men and women struggling with substance abuse.

The Way Back Inn offers specialized gender programming for men and women, yet both offer similar treatment. A 90-day chemical dependency track and a six-month dual-diagnosis trackare available depending on client needs.

Treatment includes 12-step groups, individual and group therapy, and a weekly family group with education to loved ones. The facility utilizes both cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing (MI) in individual treatment plans. Special programs also assist clients with searching for employment and obtaining GEDs. The women’s residential program also offers group therapy on domestic violence.

Residential care can be followed up with aftercare programming aimed at relapse prevention. The outpatient program offers weekly group and individual therapy five hours per week in the mornings and evenings, as well as family education classes and 12-step meetings. Specialized outpatient services are available for Polish Americans and military clientele.

The Way Back Inn also offers DUI risk education and evaluations within seven business days. Treatment for gambling addiction is also available for men or women.

The multidisciplinary team includes medical doctors, nurses, a clinical psychologist, master’s level counselors, licensed clinical professional counselors, CADC- and gambling-certified counselors, and a registered dietitian.
