TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to the facility’s website, clients participate in a comprehensive substance abuse and psychiatric assessment to determine an appropriate level of care before undergoing treatment.

If a client requires mental stabilization or detoxification, they may be referred to the inpatient program in Auburn. Inpatient care typically lasts between 14 and 28 days, depending on individual client needs. Northeastern Center utilizes pharmacological intervention and evidence-based treatment approaches to stabilize the individual.

Clients undergoing detoxification may receive medication-assisted therapy, such as Suboxone or Vivitrol, to alleviate the discomfort of withdrawal.

During inpatient care, individuals struggling with addiction participate in structured schedule of individual and group counseling sessions, which focus on the underlying issues that may contribute to addictive behavior. In addition, clients may attend psychoeducational classes that address relapse prevention, trigger avoidance, and forming support systems. Clients are also introduced to the philosophies and practices of the 12-step model of recovery.

Programming also medication management, recreational and expressive therapies, and workshops on topics such as coping skills, stress management, anger management, and self-awareness. Inpatient programs are designed to rapidly stabilize individuals and refer them to a less-intensive level of care. The Northeastern Center’s treatment team facilitates family counseling for loved ones.

Once a client is stable, clinicians may encourage the individual to utilize an outpatient program as a “step-down” service. While inpatient care only treats adults, outpatient services are available to both adults and adolescents. Outpatient programs primarily entail counseling sessions, which address a range of topics relevant to the individual. Some common topics include stress management, self-esteem, social anxiety, grief and loss, depression, and interpersonal conflicts.
