ABOUT WELLSTONE REGIONAL HOSPITAL

Wellstone Regional Hospital is a psychiatric hospital located in Jeffersonville, Indiana. We provide a comprehensive range of residential and outpatient services to individuals of all ages who are facing psychiatric and substance abuse disorders. Our specialized therapies, including pet therapy and horticultural therapy, are available to all clients. For adults aged 18 and over, we offer outpatient “Living Well” programs designed specifically for those with severe and persistent psychiatric illness (limited to Medicare clients only). Please note that detox services are not available on site. We also offer aftercare services for continued support after treatment.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

At Wellstone Regional Hospital, we follow a 12-step based therapy approach that combines physical, social, spiritual, medical, and psychotherapeutic treatment interventions. Our residential programs are short-term and highly structured, with a focus on targeting symptoms of behavioral health issues, developing coping skills, and designing an aftercare plan.

For substance abuse treatment, we take a holistic approach. Clients can enroll in residential or outpatient programs that aim to reduce drug use and develop effective coping skills. Suboxone maintenance is available as needed.

In addition to individual, group, and family therapy, we also offer education groups. Our programs are tailored to different age groups, with specialized programs for children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. For example, our children’s program, called BEARS (behavior, emotions, anger management, respect and self-esteem), includes educational group therapy sessions with daily themes for better retention.

For our geriatric patients, treatment focuses on maintaining functionality while addressing the unique challenges that come with aging. Our treatment plans include counseling, recreational therapy, special education for family and caregivers, medication management, and assistance with placement after leaving the program.

  • This facility treated my son with respect and he got the help he needed. However, they only take cash or certain insurance coverage. He can't go there now that he has different insurance. It is a nice facility with clean appearance. The participants were kept busy and were engaged with their treatment process. At the time my son went there, the funding was very limited. He had good insurance at the time, but a lot of people there had to pay cash. That would prohibit who could be treated.

  • Doctors are available and staff is adequate. Treatment duration is far too short. Patient release is often premature.

  • Many of the counselors were also recovering addicts who spoke openly which was very encouraging. All in all staff was kind, caring, and understanding. However, I would have preferred to be given options other than a twelve step program for my recovery.
