ABOUT THE ABBEY
Since 2008, The Abbey has been providing substance abuse treatment through residential and outpatient care. The facility, located in Bettendorf, Iowa, offers specialized care for individuals with co-occurring disorders such as depression, trauma, and anxiety. Please note that medically supervised detox is not available at this facility.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
The treatment process at The Abbey begins with a comprehensive assessment to determine the appropriate level of care and create an individualized treatment plan. Individuals diagnosed with co-occurring disorders, according to the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic & Statistical Manual, 5th edition (DSM-5), are offered treatment.
The treatment program includes individual and group therapy, process groups, and 12-step programming. Gender-specific therapy is also available when deemed appropriate. Treatment at The Abbey operates in a 4-week cycle.
Furthermore, evidence-based therapy methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), rational emotive behavioral therapy (REBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and trauma-informed care are utilized. The facility also offers holistic therapies like yoga, meditation, music therapy, and art therapy.
Family programming is provided, including weekly sessions and support groups. Alumni are welcome to return for quick sessions or for readmission into the program.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The Abbey’s clinical team consists of experienced professionals with over 10 years of expertise. The staff includes therapists, social workers, master’s level counselors, physicians, and nurses.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Situated on an acre of land surrounded by a privacy wall, The Abbey offers fully furnished double occupancy rooms with twin beds. Some private rooms are also available, each with its own private bathroom. The facility features shared courtyards, common rooms, and gardens for clients to enjoy.
Clients dine together in a communal cafe that remains open all day, resembling a coffee shop and serving as a social space.

The Abbey accepts a wide range of health insurance options, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and United Healthcare. Additionally, finance plans are available for self-pay clients.
