ABOUT FAIRLAND CENTER

Fairland Center, located in Tutwiler, Miss., offers residential and outpatient treatment to adolescents and adults struggling with substance abuse. Located in the Mississippi Delta, right off U.S. Highway 49, the residential program is self-paced with a typical length of stay of 35 days.

In addition to drug and alcohol abuse, the facility also offers treatment for other compulsive behaviors, including gambling addiction, overeating, and uncontrolled sexual behavior. Fairland also admits expectant mothers and parents (both men and women) who wish to bring their young children into treatment with them. Transitional living services are also offered, and detoxification services are available on-site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Fairland takes a holistic approach to treatment as its program is designed to treat the entire individual: mind, body, and spirit. The program focuses on three key areas: the biochemical roots of addiction, stopping destructive thinking patterns, and cultivating a core sense of spirituality.

All clients undergo an initial assessment to determine the appropriate level of care. Treatment includes individual, couples, and family therapy, case management services, on-site psychiatric services and medication management, psychological evaluations, and community education. The program also offers workshops on parenting skills, anger management, and pain management.

Expectant mothers and parents with children may bring their young children to treatment with them. A full-time Registered Nurse is on-hand to help care for the children and help identify and treat early signs of drug-induced developmental deficiencies in the children.

Fairland offers and adolescent substance abuse treatment program called Sunflower Landing. The adolescent program is similar to the adult program in its treatment approach. Sunflower Landing emphasizes pet therapy as a vital element of treatment and the residence has a number of different animals that live on-site.

Outpatient services include counseling for individuals, couples, and families, DUI assessments, addiction education, and access to 12-step support groups.
