ABOUT BAPTIST BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CARE – GOLDEN TRIANGLE

The Baptist Behavioral Health Care program located at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle, in Columbus, Miss., provides treatment to adults struggling with substance use and other mental health disorders. Short-term inpatient and intensive outpatient programming (IOP) are available. This Baptist facility was previously known as the organization’s Willowbrook location.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The behavioral health program’s initial assessment is free, and referrals are accepted 24 hours. Although the Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle’s webpage does not explicitly reference detoxification, behavioral health patients may be able to receive supportive services during the withdrawal process as part of an inpatient chemical dependency program. During a short inpatient stay, treatment staff focus on stabilization, coping skills, and increased patient responsibility.

Baptist Behavioral Health Care’s intensive outpatient program is an eight-week evening program, and is designed for individuals who have successfully stabilized. The IOP is group-based, but individual and family therapy sessions can be arranged. All clients are expected to follow 12-step concepts and attend Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous meetings. Loved ones are invited to participate in the recovery process. A minimum of one year of aftercare services are provided without additional cost to clients who have completed the IOP.

Baptist Behavioral Health care also offers inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care addressing such concerns as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder disorder, anger management, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Play therapy, medication management, and several specialized groups are available.

I didn't pay a ton, so it was basically like staying at an ugly hotel with people society deems crazy, eating nasty food, and not being allowed to talk to the outside world during the stay

  • It wasn't unpleasant. It just didn't do anything for me. I expected at least some tiny epiphany or easing of my depressive burden, but the best I got was some quality social interaction (outside of the groups)
