ABOUT HOME OF GRACE FOR MEN – VANCLEAVE

Situated on 30 acres of grassy, rolling hills in Vancleave, Miss., Home of Grace for Men provides short and long-term residential treatment for drug, alcohol, gambling, and pornography addiction. The men’s program is faith-based and utilizes Christian principles as a foundation for recovery. Women seeking treatment may find help at a separate campus just a few miles away in Gautier.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to the facility’s website, at Home of Grace for Men, detoxification services are not provided; clients must be medically cleared before they are admitted. Similarly, the facility does not treat mental health disorders and co-occurring disorders. Mood altering medications such as antidepressants are not allowed at the treatment center. Length of stay is a minimum of three months.

Typical treatment plans include individual counseling, group therapy, bible study, regular worship and devotional services, and a curriculum of coursework designed to prepare residents for life after rehab.

According to the center’s website, residents are required to participate in “therapeutic work assignments” intended to develop a “Christian work ethic.” Such work assignments typically involve tasks related to food service, housekeeping, and facility maintenance. An adult education program is available for individuals without a high school diploma or GED. There is also a 3 month residential retreat available. According to the facility’s website the program has a 72 percent completion rate.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The center’s website indicates the leadership of this rehab tends to stay within one family. The current executive director is the third generation family member to step into that role. Other key staff have experience in business and faith-based recovery.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

The facility’s website notes the Home of Grace campus can accommodate up to 110 men at a time. Living quarters are modest and resemble a dormitory. Recreational and physical fitness activities are offered on-site.

The facility’s “Statement of Faith and Conduct” takes a firm stance on the definition of marriage, stating that it is an “exclusive union” between a man and a woman. Therefore, this center may not be a supportive place for LGBT individuals.

The four individuals who reviewed the facility to date gave accommodations and amenities an average rating of 4.75 out of 5 stars.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The two alumni polled by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided mostly positive feedback.

Mike, for example, gave treatment effectiveness, accommodations, and meals four out of five stars. “After 25 years of drug addiction $3000.00 was a small price to pay for sobriety,” he wrote. He also stated that the program provided “outside counseling with pastors and addiction counselors” once he completed the program.

D.C., an alum who sought treatment a decade ago, credits the program for his sobriety. “I was a resident at the Home of Grace 10 years ago…It was the place I began feeling the transformations that God had in store for my life. The facilities have changed since then but the love I felt there is still alive.” He did, however, add a caveat: “There is not a tremendous clinical approach; dual diagnosis clients need a more specialized setting.”

The 286 people who left reviews on Home of Grace’s Facebook page, which the center has the ability to manage, provided an average overall rating of 4.8 out of five stars. However, the reviews are both for the men and women’s programs.

“This place will always be a special place to me. This is where my life changed forever. I have personally felt the presence of The Lord stronger here then anywhere in my life,” Robbie wrote in a representative review.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The three loved ones surveyed by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing also provided positive feedback. All loved ones indicated the treatment center had changed their sons’ lives.

“Spiritually based. I believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to conquer addiction. Through Home of Grace, founded in 1965, God has changed our son’s life and our family’s life. It is a God-filled place,” a loved one wrote in a representative review.

Two loved ones gave five out of five stars for treatment effectiveness and staff support.

“The Home of Grace is a Christian based recovery center. I honestly believe that unless Christ is at the head of the recovery process, no one will ever beat their addiction,” another loved one wrote.

FINANCING

According to the facility’s website, the standard program fee is $5,000, but the rehab offers a donation-funded scholarship of $2,500 to all clients. Those who cannot afford the program are encouraged to ask their community for sponsorship or seek help at a less expensive facility. Insurance is not accepted.

According to family member J.F. via a Best-rehabs.com survey, payment plans are available. “Paid monthly until his graduation, then he made payments.”

Home of Grace for Men Reviews

My son is clean and sober after 14 months of being in the program. And better yet, he loves the Lord passionately and is faithfully serving Christ. We are so glad he was willing to get help.
My son went into Home of Grace a 20 year old with problems and came home a 20 year old man. He went in as someone I no longer knew and came home the son I had lost. I can’t say enough good about Home of Grace! The staff is great, the Counselors are Awesome, and you definitely feel the Spirit of God when you step out of your vehicle. My son didn’t have one negative thing to say about his time there. The graduation was beautiful! I can’t say enough good things about this facility! If you think you have a problem, this is the place you want to go for help!
Although recovery is worth any financial cost, the Home oc of Grace is incredibly inexpensive, as a 90 day program that is a life changer. HOG changed my life!
My son graduated from home of grace on may 12th 2017 we had lost him for awhile but he seems to be back and its all because of the great staff at home of grace when my son got saved he was the happiest i have heard him in a long long time this place is surly doing miracles and doing God's work thank you all.
My son has become actively involved in his church, attending Bible studies, discipling one on one with the pastor, went back to school and made the Dean's List, is coaching a men's indoor soccer team at the local YMCA, etc. The Home of Grace is a Christian based recovery center. I honestly believe that unless Christ is at the head of the recovery process, no one will ever beat their addiction.
