ABOUT CENTERPOINTE HOSPITAL- ST. PETERS OUTPATIENT- ST. PETERS, MO
CenterPointe Hospital- St. Peters Outpatient, located in St. Peters, Mo., offers treatment to adult men and women struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental illness. The St. Peters outpatient location is part of the larger CenterPointe Hospital, a 150-bed private psychiatric hospital providing care for adolescents, adults, and seniors. There are four other outpatient centers throughout the St. Louis Metro and mid-Missouri region.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
The facility’s addiction treatment philosophy recognizes that addiction is a disease that has diagnosable symptoms and, therefore, can be effectively treated. The facility follows a medically monitored, multidiscipline approach to care, also incorporating the 12-step model of recovery into the treatment regimen. CenterPointe recognizes the importance of treating the whole person.
To be admitted, clients should contact the program directly for an assessment. The assessment team is available 24 hours per day to help individuals and families, especially during emergency situations. The assessment allows clients to be placed into the correct level of care based on the severity of their disease.
Throughout treatment, clients receive group therapy, individual therapy, addiction education, and other treatment methods that help clients to develop their own individual recovery skills. The outpatient program is designed for clients who do not need the structure of a full 24 hour program in a less intensive level of care. The outpatient program may also be used as a step-down from residential treatment.
CenterPointe offers a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and an intensive outpatient program (IOP). Throughout both of these programs, medication may be used to assist clients throughout detoxification for those addicted to opiates such as heroin and pain medications. Medication-assisted therapy is monitored by the program medical director.
PHP and IOP are also offered to adults and adolescents in need of outpatient psychiatric care. The methods of treatment for psychiatric illness are similar to those for addiction treatment including individual and group therapy, education, and cognitive behavioral therapy to improve client’s functioning. An emphasis on relapse prevention and improvement of medication compliance is also incorporated.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The treatment team includes psychiatric and board certified psychiatric medical doctors, nurses, social workers- including licensed clinical social workers, counselors, and therapists along with other administrative and support staff.

The alum was neutral when asked if the treatment plan was affordable and/or payment plans, scholarships, or financial assistance were made available but agreed that the treatment and services offered at the facility were worth the cost. On the facility’s Google page, there is an overall rating of 3.4 out of five stars based on seven total reviews.[1] The respondents left mixed reviews with some speaking highly of the staff and treatment effectiveness at the facility and others more negatively. One alum, J.K., who gave five stars, felt that the facility saved her life. She wrote, “This place was a life saver for me… This is the ONLY place that has ever helped me! I highly recommend it to everyone! For behavior health, co-occuring disorders, and drug treatment!” Another anonymous alum did not agree with that viewpoint. This reviewer gave two stars and wrote, “The therapists are boring. The group topics are repetitive… The therapists there pay no attention to the needs of their patients. I was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia, and I felt like I was being shunned by my therapist. She was not at all supportive and a little bit condescending.”
