Based in Las Vegas, Nev., Adelson Clinic for Drug Abuse Treatment & Research provides outpatient treatment for adults and adolescents who are struggling with substance abuse. Both clinical and counseling services are available, and Adelson is the only facility in the area that offers methadone maintenance for teens. Other services provided on-site include medical exams, laboratory testing, and education on infectious diseases.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to Adelson’s website, the nonprofit organization provides both clinical and counseling services. Those with opioid dependency may access outpatient methadone maintenance and dosage monitoring. Standard medical exams, medical testing, and electrocardiograms are also available.

The treatment center offers a variety of counseling services such as individual, family, and group counseling. Counseling also provided education on methadone treatment, referrals, employment leads, goal setting, social development, and group meetings.

Shower facilities and limited clothes closet are available for clients.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The center’s website notes Adelson was founded by a physician who specializes in internal medicine, emergency medicine, and chemical dependency and drug addiction. The treatment team also includes registered nurses.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Best-rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews from this facility’s alumni, but reviews submitted to third-party sites are mostly negative.

To date, the 12 individuals who left reviews for Adelson Clinic for Drug Abuse on Google provided an average rating of 1.7 out of five stars. Alumni complained about the center’s staff, warned people to avoid the facility, and some called it “the worst treatment center.”[1]

“What a terrible,disgusting,beyond cruel place,” Matt wrote in a representative review. Tonya echoed his statement. “To anyone who needs treatment for opioid dependency. PLEASE PLEASE do not even consider Adelson! The staff is absolutely rude and treats you like you are less than human,” she wrote.

Of the five individuals who left reviews for the clinic on Yellowpages.com at the time of this writing, one alum provided positive feedback, while the other four left negative reviews.[2]

Zion gave five out of five stars for Adelson on Yellowpages.com, and praised the center’s staff. “The Adelson clinic goes above and beyond the things they do for us.i am grateful for All the nurses,” they wrote.

The other individuals called the center and its staff things such as unprofessional, horrible, rude, and disrespectful. “An overall, unprofessional treatment center. With many years dealing with people in recovery and treatment, the staff seems to have lost their compassion for the people and turned this clinic into just another revenue stream for the Adelson’s,” Josh wrote in a representative review.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The one anonymous loved one polled by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing was critical of the facility and its services. While they felt that the low cost of treatment was helpful for individuals of limited means, they noted the “very low” success rate. “I do not know how effective this will be for my loved one. Process seems slow,” they wrote.

An anonymous reviewer on YellowPages.com echoed complaints about rude staff, but also noted a lack of confidentiality. “My sons privacy was compromised when a counselor(not my sons) spoke about his situation in front of other patients..my son went for PROFESSIONAL help and got anything BUT!!” they wrote.

According to Adelson’s website, the facility strives to keep treatment affordable by using a sliding scale fee.
