ABOUT ROCHESTER REGIONAL HEALTH CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY
Founded in 2014 after joining the Rochester General and Unity Health systems, Rochester Regional Health (RRH) operates five hospitals servicing clients in the Rochester, N.Y. region. Rochester Regional Health Chemical Dependency offers specialized outpatient programs (OP), as well as inpatient rehabilitation and residential programs to individuals seeking recovery from substance use disorders.
Besides providing services to adults, this center is one of the only 238 (25.8 percent) in the state with adolescent programming, and one of the only 193 (20.9 percent) with specifically-tailored programming for older adults. RRH’s website makes no mention of any detox services provided.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Clients or healthcare providers may fill out a referral form to initiate treatment for clients. Treatment is individualized according to clients’ needs and values. An initial assessment determines what level of care is appropriate for prospective clients.
Hope Haven at RRH is a 20-bed facility offering inpatient treatment to clients. Treatment lasts an average of 28 days and follows a multidisciplinary approach. Components include 24-hour medical monitoring, life skills training, feelings identification management, education, relapse prevention, spirituality enhancement, and referrals for continuing care.
Children and adolescents can receive treatment for mental and behavioral health issues. Treatment includes a comprehensive evaluation; group, individual, and family therapy; psychiatric evaluation and medication management; and crisis intervention. A treatment program specifically for adolescents also offers outpatient counseling, programs on anger management and tobacco or marijuana cessation, and other services. The Young Men’s Residence offers male clients ages 14 to 20 four to six months of residential treatment, with services similar to what other programs provide.
The Clifton Springs Chemical Dependency Inpatient and Outpatient Services offers adult clients treatment based on the disease model of addiction. Services include individual, group and therapeutic family interventions, a drunk driving assessment, and care coordination with legal providers and treatment courts. Evidence-based practices include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), stages of change, motivational enhancement, and more. Treatment can also address mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety disorder, and grief, among others.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
The two loved ones polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave RRH mixed to negative reviews. One of these two loved ones gave four stars for counseling options, family participation, and overall treatment effectiveness, and three stars for leisure activities, admissions and discharge procedures, and whether or not treatment was worth the cost. “They WILL HELP YOU,” this loved one praised, despite added,, “You have to pay to much,” and giving the center’s affordability just two out of five stars.
The other reviewer gave polarizing feedback, with high five-star ratings for holistic offerings and leisure activities, but low two-star ratings for counseling options and family involvement. This loved one critiqued the dirtiness of the facility, expressed concern that her loved one had relapsed, and critically wrote: “Treat them & then kick them out to the dealers that wait right around the corner.”
