One of the first residential substance abuse treatment programs for adolescent girls in the United States, Caritas Arts takes a family-oriented approach to treating substance abuse in adolescent girls. Parental participation is mandatory. Treatment includes individual, group and family therapy, along with after-care planning, case management, relapse planning and monitoring services.
ABOUT CARITA’S ARTS PROGRAM
As a part of Gateway Healthcare, Carita’s ARTS (Acute Residential Treatment Service) Program offers substance abuse treatment for adolescents through outpatient, residential, and aftercare services. Formerly known as Carita’s House, this facility primarily provides short-term intensive treatment as well as support for co-occurring mental disorders. Medical detox is not offered on site.
Though the ARTS Program is geared toward adolescent males and females aged 12 to 17, Carita’s also operates a residential treatment facility for boys and a separate facility for women.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
According to the facility’s website, the treatment program has three tracks — mental health, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorders.
Treatment includes evidence-based care such as motivation enhancement, cognitive behavioral therapy skills, and prevention planning. Both teens and their caregivers are expected to participate in treatment. Carita’s treats up to 16 adolescent males and females at a time.
The treatment center also offers a residential rehabilitation program, which is designed for teens who need a longer residential stay.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The facility’s website indicates the treatment team includes licensed master’s level clinicians, a psychiatrist, nurses, and life skills coaches.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
The center’s website notes the facility has 16 beds and operates near central Cranston, where plenty of green space surrounds the facility.
