ABOUT MHMR RECOVERY CENTER
MHMR Recovery Center is part of the second largest community center in Texas, which has been in operation since 1969. Located in Fort Worth, the trauma-sensitive substance abuse treatment facility provides residential treatment and both residential and outpatient detox services to adults seeking help to fight their addiction disease. Additional addiction-related, mental health, and disabilities services available for adults and adolescents at four other MHMR facilities in the area.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Inpatient and ambulatory or outpatient medical detoxification treatments incorporate methodologies and practices which help clients to adjust physically and mentally. Among an array of available services are auricular acupuncture, individual and group counseling, medical monitoring, suboxone-assisted withdrawal, and assistance with placement and referrals for continued care. Residential detoxification takes place in a 20-bed unit over a five-day stay.
MHMR’s Pine Street rehabilitation center is a 50-bed facility offering therapies and support services to help clients develop skills to live without drug or alcohol use. Services feature gender-specific treatments, substance abuse education, dual diagnosis groups, access to psychiatric evaluation, weekly family groups, trauma groups, skills training, and parenting groups. Case management, HIV testing, and referrals to community services and facilities are also available.
Outpatient treatments are offered through other Tarrant County MHMR facilities, including one Spanish-speaking outpatient facility.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The MHMR community center staff, providing comprehensive health and wellness services, is a team of more than 2,000 employees. All staff members are appropriately licensed, including psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, teachers, dietitians, social workers, and case managers.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
At the time of this writing, MHMR’s website provided limited information regarding its accommodations and related amenities. Five reviewers polled by Best-rehabs.com rated the facility an average 3.6 out of five stars and its meals and nutrition 4.6 stars.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The one alum who provided feedback to Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing affirmed that the treatment was worth the cost, writing: “I owe them my life.” In addition to metrics related to accommodations referenced above, D.W. rated the level of staff support, the staff’s level of training and experience, and the level of respect demonstrated toward clients a perfect five stars. D.W. wrote in 2014: “Sober since Oct 2007 when i walked out those doors!” In one additional note, D.W. indicated “it was free” as the reason they chose the MHMR facility.
Eleven CiteHealth reviews to date are all very positive, rating MHMR an average 4.2 out of five stars, with staff rated 4.2 stars and the facility 3.8 stars.
Two alumni described the program as life-saving. One wrote anonymously: “The best possible care and treatment. Knowledgeable and caring staff. Great resources and referrals.” Another wrote that they “Would recommend this facility to anyone from all walks of life.”
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
Five reviews from loved ones published on Best-rehabs.com to date report generally positive opinions, with mostly positive reactions. Of five loved ones polled in specific categories, three rated MHMR on average highest in family participation at a perfect five stars followed by connectivity, cleanliness, and counseling options at 4.7 stars. One other rated the facility five stars in nearly every category, but the fifth loved one rated the facility only one star in family participation.
One loved one recommend the facility for its follow up and financial assistance. Some dissatisfaction with staff interactions figured in two reviews. One anonymous respondent wrote: “The staff was readily available when my loved on had any questions. Some staff were not so friendly.”
One recurrent complaint focused on the poor environment of MHMR, with clients writing the facility was “in a bad area” and “too loud.”
