Hill Recovery Alcohol & Drug Treatment

ABOUT HILL ALCOHOL & DRUG TREATMENT

Founded in 1986 and located in a commercial neighborhood just off I-15 in Temecula, southern Calif., Hill Alcohol & Drug Treatment offers outpatient treatment, including outpatient detox, for individuals struggling with substance abuse. Positioning itself as an affordable and effective alternative to residential treatment, the facility also offers a range of ancillary addiction-related services, like interventions, court evaluations, expert witness testimony, drug testing, employer assistance programs, and family therapy.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The center uses 12-step participation along with other clinical and therapeutic methods.

At the highest level of care, the partial hospitalization program (PHP) involves six hours of programming per day, Monday through Friday. Program components include group and individual counseling, education, 12-step meetings, medical supervision, relapse prevention training, anger management, and weekly family nights. Graduates of PHP receive lifetime aftercare services.

Using similar treatment modalities, the intensive outpatient program (IOP) meets three times a week, three hours at a time, for a total of eight weeks. Six months of weekly aftercare sessions are included in the cost of the IOP.

The center also runs a dedicated treatment program for opioid addiction.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The treatment team includes a physician who is board-certified in family practice, a board-certified psychiatrist, and both master’s and bachelor’s level counselors.

The two Best-rehabs.com survey respondents polled on the staff’s level of training and experience to date gave two and four stars out of five, respectively.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The single alum polled by Best-rehabs.com to date, Allie, gave the center five stars for its overall effectiveness, accommodations, and meals, and spoke highly of the “Caring people that own the facility” and “quality groups to help you get in touch with hope.”

As of this writing, secondary review sites yielded uniformly positive coverage from alumni, with average ratings of 5.0 stars based on 30 Google reviews, 4.9 stars based on 50 reviews on Facebook (where the center manages its own page), and 4.5 stars based on 11 Yelp reviews.[1] [2] [3]

Reviewers on these sites repeatedly praised the center’s staff, its level of family involvement in programming, and the breadth of its programs. “This is the best place out there for you and your family if you’re facing recovery.” Iris wrote in a representative review on Yelp. “They offer so many amazing programs and such an amazing support group… All of the staff is so friendly and welcoming.”

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

Of the two reviews submitted to Best-rehabs.com to date, one was positive and one negative. While one reviewer gave the center a perfect five stars for its treatment effectiveness and its family program, the other gave just two stars for these categories. “Helping my family better communicate and understand the addiction,” the former wrote anonymously, but the latter complained of insufficient drug testing, insufficient rigor with the client, and insufficient communication with the family.

In the single negative review, Yelp reviewer Becky shared her disappointment with the facility: “I should have been told upfront that they were not equipped to deal with teenagers, after all, they knew his age when I called and before we walked in the door.”

WHAT STAFF SAY

Both staff members polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave positive feedback. J.M. indicated that they would recommend the center and had no concerns about the quality of care offered here. The other anonymously told Best-rehabs.com of “Decent management and good services.”

FINANCING

According to its website, Hill Alcohol & Drug Treatment is in-network with most major health insurance carriers. The program’s website states that typical inpatient costs is $30,000 for one month versus our cost of a quarter of that for two months.

  • It was local, staff seemed to care Did not do enough drug tests. Did not talk to family members to get the truth of what was going on. Allowed clients to live in their own truth rather than reality. Encouraged patients to stay connected which led to more drug connections once they got out of facility My biggest problem with this facility was that they allowed patients to continue to lie to themselves and to them. They never wanted to hear what the family saw and what was truly going on. When my significant other went there, he had hurt my and our two children so badly, but he never saw any error in his ways. Our boys had high hopes for when he got out, but things just got worse. He now used things he learned in rehab to put us all down. I never understood how he decided to blame his children 6 & 2 for his issues, but I also remember trying to explain to the counselor what was going on and was told, well he said it was this. They never took into account what was truly going on at home and seemed to encourage his lies. He came out with more drug connections than he had going in and his addiction was worse too since he had new friends to party with
