ABOUT CENTER FOR DISCOVERY – RESILIENCE PACIFIC PLACE
Resilience Pacific Place is one of two Center for Discovery (CFD) residential treatment centers for adolescents located in Long Beach, Calif. This facility specializes in caring for teens who struggle with substance use and co-occurring disorders and conditions, such as depression, anxiety, self-injury, and trauma. Center for Discovery began serving teen mental health needs more than 20 years ago and operates eating disorder treatment facilities across the country.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
While treatment plans at Resilience Pacific Place are tailored for each boy and girl, ages 11 to 17, the 12-Steps and cognitive behavioral therapy are central components. Residents participate in at least three individual counseling sessions per week and multiple groups each day. Groups help clients develop coping skills, self-esteem, and spirituality.
The facility also offers medication management, anger management and relapse prevention sessions, dialectical behavioral therapy, art and music therapy, and nutritional guidance. Residents attend local 12-step meetings.
Adolescents progress through levels in rehabilitation, gaining increasing independence as they develop skills for life in recovery. Recreational activities are key to educating clients and their family members about the importance of positive social and expressive practices. Center for Discovery prioritizes family involvement through weekly family therapy and education.
Resilience Pacific Place staff also serve as educational liaisons and assist with developing individual education plans. Aftercare is provided through online and weekly in-person support groups at various CFD locations following completion of the residential program.
