Cityteam’s San Jose facility operates two programs with comprehensive services designed to help those in need. The residential drug and alcohol treatment program offers long-term care for men that’s client-driven and 12-step based. Clients learn responsibility, leadership and stewardship by working at the mission, at the same time participating in therapy sessions, anger management meetings, Bible studies, life skills education and a career enhancement courses to help men find employment after completion of the program.
ABOUT CITYTEAM
Cityteam Men’s Recovery is a men’s drug and alcohol treatment program located in San Jose, Calif. The nondenominational Christian nonprofit that runs facilities in five US cities dedicated to helping low-income and homeless individuals. Cityteam serves more than 500,000 people a year.
The San Jose location provides two main programs for men; a long-term residential recovery program and a shelter for the homeless. Medical detox is not available on-site.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Cityteam’s program lasts anywhere from nine to 12 months. The program emphasizes Christian faith as a fundamental part of treatment. Clients will participate in “discovery Bible studies” 12-step programming, and case management.
Clients will be provided with shelter, meals, clothing, personal counseling, discipleship, and a health and dental clinic. Career and employment services with individualized classes on math, computer literacy, reading, and life skills, GED preparation, and career counseling is also offered. Clients will participate in recovery classes on anger management, conflict resolution, and relapse prevention.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
Services at Cityteam are made possible by the help of volunteers and donors. Volunteers assist with dining, kitchen, and laundry duties. The amount of credentialed staff members is unclear.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Residents will live in “dormitory style” shelter with provided meals. No other information on related offerings is available on the facility’s website.

On Google, Cityteam’s mens programs received 4.4 out of five stars based on 11 reviews. Several volunteers commenting on the site remarked on well-organized programs and “pleasant” and “caring” staff. FINANCING
Treatment at Cityteam is offered at no cost. The 501(c)(3) organization provides treatment thanks to volunteers and donations from individuals, companies, and other donors.
