TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
According to Good Samaritan Shelter’s website, Recovery Point Acute Care is an inpatient drug and alcohol social model detox program. Treatment typically lasts between seven and 14 days. The program aims to provide a safe and secure residential environment for individuals experiencing withdrawal symptoms.
Social Model Detox means it is a detox program where residents do not receive detox medication to aid in the process.
The program includes private counseling sessions, 12-step sessions, aftercare, and free relapse treatment. The facility is staffed 24 hours a day. Clients are expected to initiate sobriety and establish a clean and sober foundation independently.
Good Samaritan’s Recovery Point, located in Santa Maria, also offers outpatient programs for individuals struggling with addiction. The facility can accommodate up to 80 adults at a time and is able to assist those with co-occurring disorders.

The only alum surveyed by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided positive feedback. The alum gave five out of five stars for treatment effectiveness and three stars for counseling options, stating, “Great support. Needs to be bigger. It really works.”
Thirteen individuals who left Google Reviews for Good Samaritan Shelter at the time of this writing provided an average rating of 3.5 out of five stars. It should be noted that these reviews are for the entire shelter, not just the Acute Care unit.

Those who provided negative feedback mentioned issues with accommodations, meals, and staff. The individuals who praised the center often referred to it as a great organization and described the staff as “amazing.”
