We have a trauma-informed approach and employ clinicians specializing in DBT, Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, and grounding practices including meditation and mindfulness. Our clinicians have years of experience developing individualized treatment programs based on the unique needs of each client. Case management, life skills development, and ongoing support are integrated into our model for care to foster sustainable life change.
All clients are encouraged to join a recovery community and regularly attend meetings, such as 12-step, SMART, and Refuge. We recognize that there is no singular path to recovery and aim to be inclusive of all those in need of treatment while promoting and encouraging abstinence. Our highly trained and ethical clinical team, along with our medical director, evaluate the specific needs of each individual client.
ABOUT ROOTS THROUGH RECOVERY
Established in 2013 and located in Long Beach, California, Roots Through Recovery offers outpatient, an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and partial hospitalization programs (PHP) for adults seeking treatment for substance abuse, particularly opioid dependency, as well as co-occurring disorders. We also provide aftercare services for program alumni.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Roots Through Recovery offers specialized treatment for opioid addiction, which is available in only approximately 9% of facilities nationwide. Specialized treatments are also available for mental health disorders including bipolar disorder, ADHD, and attachment disorder.
Our treatment options include both traditional 12-step emphasis and non-traditional alternatives. Clients can participate in either method of treatment based on their individual needs. Although nearly 48% of facilities in the U.S. offer some version of the 12-Step system in treatment, we recognize that it may not work for some participants.
The intensive outpatient program (IOP) meets for three hours per day, three to five days per week. We offer treatment at various times throughout the day to accommodate work and life schedules.
Clients in the day treatment program meet for up to six hours per day, five days per week. A typical day of treatment includes activities such as mindfulness training, meditation, somatic experiencing, 12-Step discussions, process groups, relapse prevention, art therapy, yoga, and life skills.
Each treatment plan is individualized based on an initial assessment to determine each client’s needs. However, most plans include individual counseling and group sessions. Group treatment is offered to address substance abuse, trauma, and co-occurring mental health disorders.
Roots Through Recovery utilizes a range of evidence-based modalities, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR), mindfulness-based relapse prevention (MBRP), motivational interviewing, Seeking Safety, and Somatic Experiencing®. The goal of these methods is to analyze the underlying conditions and trauma that contribute to addiction.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The treatment team at Roots Through Recovery includes therapists and behavioral health technicians. The facility is accredited by the Joint Commission, similar to 19% of the U.S. facilities. Staff members meet continuing development goals as part of that accreditation.
