Roots Through Recovery

Roots Through Recovery Long Beach California

We are trauma-informed in our approach and have clinicians on staff specializing in DBT, Somatic Experiencing, EMDR and grounding practices including meditation and mindfulness, with years of experience developing individualized treatment programs based on the unique needs of each client. Case management, life skills development and ongoing support is wrapped into our model for care in an effort to create sustainable life change.

All of our clients are encouraged to join a recovery community and regularly attend meetings, such as 12-step, SMART and Refuge. We realize there is no singular path to recovery and while we promote and encourage abstinence, we want to be inclusive of all those in need of treatment. Our highly trained and ethical clinical team and medical director evaluate the specific needs of each individual client.

Founded in 2013 and located in Long Beach, Calif., Roots Through Recovery offers outpatient, an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and partial hospitalization programs (PHP) for adults seeking treatment for substance abuse, specifically opioid dependency, as well as co-occurring disorders. The facility also offers aftercare services for program alumni.

Roots Through Recovery’s programs offers specialized treatment for opioid addiction, which is limited to roughly 9% of facilities across the country. Specialized treatments are also available for mental health disorders including bipolar disorder, ADHD, and attachment disorder.

Roots Through Recovery offers treatment options that have a traditional 12-step emphasis along with non-traditional alternatives. Clients can participate in either method of treatment based on their individual needs. Although nearly 48% of facilities in the U.S. offer some version of the 12-Step system in treatment, the facility recognizes that it may not work for some participants.

The intensive outpatient program (IOP) meets for three hours per day, from three to five days per week. The center offers treatment at various times throughout the day to accommodate work and life schedules.

Clients in the day treatment program meet for up to six hours per day for five days per week. A typical day of treatment includes activities such as mindfulness training, meditation, somatic experiencing, 12-Step discussions, process groups, relapse prevention, art therapy, yoga, and life skills.

Each treatment plan is individualized based on an initial assessment to determine each client’s needs. However, most plans include individual counseling and group sessions. Group treatment is offered to address substance abuse, trauma, and co-occurring mental health disorders.

Roots Through Recovery utilizes a range of evidence-based modalities, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR), mindfulness-based relapse prevention (MBRP), motivational interviewing, Seeking Safety, and Somatic Experiencing®. The goal of these methods is to analyze the underlying conditions and trauma that contribute to addiction.

This is a really great facility, with people who really care to see people getting better. I would recommend it to anyone looking for treatment.
strenght:Roots Through Recovery places a heavy emphasis on trauma, and all of its staff are highly trained and each is certified and passionate about the practices they use. They have Masters-level therapists trained in Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, DBT, mindfulness and meditation. They also do lots of engaging activities to get to the root of trauma and addiction, such as art therapy, yoga, psychodrama and bring in nutritionists for support. Groups are kept small and there is an emphasis on individual therapy as well. The relapse prevention and case management components are unique in that they are very individualized and the staff stop at nothing to get every client the help they need, in and out of treatment. The program is very inclusive so they don't require that clients subscribe to any particular support community, but everyone is encouraged to find the one that fits them best. Everyone is encouraged to practice abstinence but no one is excluded from the opportunity to get treatment. weakness:I have not found any weaknesses at Roots Through Recovery The people who work at Roots Through Recovery are some of the most committed and compassionate people I've ever met. A lot of outpatient programs just operate during treatment schedule hours, but the staff at RTR are always accessible and won't stop working with a client until their needs are met. The center itself is brand new and is really comfortable and nicely decorated. You will feel right at home there.
