ABOUT THE PAAR CENTER
The PAAR Center is a non-profit, community-based treatment provider located in Porterville, California. The center offers a comprehensive range of treatment programs through its six gender-specific facilities. These include long-term residential treatment, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), transitional housing, and detoxification services if needed.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon admission, clients at the PAAR Center undergo an initial substance abuse assessment to determine the appropriate level of care. If necessary, clients may be referred to the center’s four-bed detoxification center, which may utilize medications to alleviate withdrawal symptoms. For clients who require a structured environment to achieve and maintain sobriety, the center offers gender-specific residential programs.
The residential programs at the PAAR Center last for 90 days and follow a therapeutic community model of recovery, emphasizing peer support and a structured environment. The center combines evidence-based treatment with 12-step immersion and specialized educational classes.
During residential treatment, clients engage in the principles and practices of the 12-step model of recovery. They attend on- and off-site 12-step meetings, study fellowship literature, and complete step-work. The center also provides 12-step workshops to help clients effectively process through the steps.
In addition to 12-step participation, the PAAR Center offers a schedule of education classes focused on anger management, domestic abuse, stress management, problem-solving, and medication awareness. The center also organizes recreational activities, and loved ones can participate in a family awareness and education program.
After completing residential treatment, clients may be encouraged to continue their recovery journey through the center’s intensive outpatient program and/or transitional living facility. The transitional living facility provides a safe, supervised environment while clients attend outpatient-based programs and reintegrate into the community. The center also provides comprehensive discharge plans with referrals to community-based resources such as vocational training and educational opportunities.
