ABOUT PORT ST. LUCIE HOSPITAL
Located on 20 acres near the Savannas Preserve State Park in Port St. Lucie, Fla., state-licensed Port St. Lucie Hospital offers a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and inpatient programs for adults struggling with substance abuse, mental health disorders, and co-occurring disorders. The facility also offers a specific program for seniors over 60.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Port St. Lucie Hospital provides a continuum of care through assessment, stabilization, and treatment for individuals struggling with psychiatric and substance abuse disorders. The hospital’s inpatient dual-diagnosis program lasts 28 days and includes a psychiatric assessment, medication management, and group psychotherapy. The hospital is one of 114 short-term residential facilities in Florida.
Port St. Lucie Hospital’s treatment program also utilizes the 12-step model of recovery, as well as recreational therapy, nutritional consultations, relapse prevention workshops, and educational classes for family members. Once a patient completes inpatient treatment, the facility may encourage the individual to “step-down” to the facility’s partial hospitalization program.
PHP includes five hours of daily programming and features the same treatment methods as the inpatient program. In addition to dual-diagnosis programs, the hospital offers an inpatient psychiatric program for adults and general outpatient programming.
Through discharge planning, the treatment team helps patients transition back to the community through referrals and linkages to community-based resources.

Three alumni polled on the program’s holistic offerings provided low ratings of one and two stars for this aspect of treatment.

He did, however, indicate the program’s marketing materials did not depict the reality of the facility.
Rebuking this opinion, alum Greg felt the program did not provide much in the way of treatment. “Virtually every aspect is lacking except that they did bring in AA every night,” he wrote. K. wrote the facility was “the worst rehab I’ve ever seen” and described staff as “rude” and “lazy” and the facility as “filthy.”
Additionally, on Google, 18 reviewers rated the facility an average of 2.6 out of five stars. [1] “If you’re struggling from mental health problems or addictions this is the place to go,” Benjamin wrote in a representative positive review. However, unsatisfied reviewers cited accommodations, staff attitudes, and billing issues as facility weaknesses.
