ABOUT TREATMENT ALTERNATIVES

Based just minutes from the beach in Boca Raton, Florida, Treatment Alternatives provides rehabilitative treatment designed to address the core, underlying issues of addiction. With more than 25 years of experience, the facility offers two levels of intensive outpatient programming, which draw upon an array of evidence-based and experiential therapies. Dual diagnosis treatment for individuals struggling with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders is available, as well as a specialized executive track. Detox services and sober living arrangements are also available through affiliated facilities, including the nearby Awakenings for Women.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Following medical detoxification at a separate Treatment Alternatives facility, individuals can enroll in a 28-day partial hospitalization program (PHP), which meets seven days a week. Many clients simultaneously participate in supervised, sober housing. Those enrolled in the more flexible intensive outpatient program (IOP) attend between three and five days of treatment each week, three hours at a time, day or evening.

PHP clients participate in individual therapy once a week, and the facility’s website emphasizes the continuity of care available as clients work with the same counselor throughout successive stages of treatment. Among the evidence-based modalities used are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and trauma-oriented eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). Holistic offerings include yoga, art therapy, nutritional counseling, acupuncture, spiritual counseling, and gender-specific programming. Clients also attend educational sessions and 12-step meetings.

Every six weeks, the facility hosts a weekend family program with lectures, group sessions, and private family counseling.

Treatment Alternatives collaborates with probation officers to support clients with legal obligations.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Feedback for Treatment Alternatives received by Best-rehabs.com was mixed. More than one-third of 15 former client reviewers characterized the staff as caring. Half identified the effectiveness of treatment as a strength, with most of those mentioning specific successes in employment, housing, and family relationships following rehab. On the other hand, one alum reported the need for stronger alumni programming.

Nine alumni were polled on several specific aspects of treatment and accommodations, awarding more than 4.5 out of five stars each for family participation, the staff’s level of training and experience, the facility’s ability to treat co-occurring disorders, and the centrality of 12-step concepts to the program. Also receiving high ratings were affordability of treatment and holistic therapy offerings. Just slightly less favorable were average ratings of four stars for meals and nutrition and options in counseling approaches.

Nevertheless, three of 15 alumni would not recommend the facility to others, and even some of those who concluded their experience was positive criticized accommodations and amenities. Three wrote that maintenance was poor. Two complained of not enough activities (balanced out by two who highlighted structured programming as a strength). Two also criticized the cost of Treatment Alternatives.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

In contrast to overall positive alumni trends, feedback from six loved ones was split between two favorable reviews and four critical. Again, the facility’s cleanliness, inadequate activities, and financial aspects were criticized, as well as inconsistent communication from staff. Half, however, rated the effectiveness of treatment four or five stars.

WHAT STAFF SAY

Two staff members polled by Best-rehabs.com provided highly contrasting perspectives on the facility. One awarded five stars for all 15 metrics measured, including staff experience, accommodations, counseling options, while the other agreed with a family member that the facility did not match its marketing materials.

FINANCING

Treatment Alternatives Reviews

The owners wife was just arrested for patient brokering. Don't send your loved ones here. http://mugshots.palmbeachpost.com/Details.aspx?BookingID=2019010820
While this place helped me, it is a poorly run business. Some of the staff members truly care about your recovery, while the rest could care less or have their own agenda. don’t care about their patients recovery, only which way they will be able to get the most money from the client or the insurance company. The brochures and website show magnificent accommodations and great activities for clients. This may have been true ten years ago, but couldn’t be farther from the truth. The facilities are dilapidated and years past due for reconditioning. This goes for housing and the actual treatment facility. They rarely have external activities for clients. The vans are poorly maintained and are filled with roaches. Additionally the company is under federal investigation for numerous infractions. Im not saying that this place is horrible, but there are MANY better options for the same or less amount of money. I would rate this place with 2 out of 5 stars.
Yes this place seems to be all about the money.. It’s pay or they are out on the street. This happened once a month. But my loved one used much more than that. Drug dealers hang out across the street. . This is a very unsafe place for addicts. I’m glad my loved one escaped here with his life. BTW the accommodations are very bad.
Excellent facility with very caring personnel.
I attended their halfway house program, they helped me find a job, helped me get health insurance, food stamps to help get back on my feet, and provided transportation to AA and NA meetings. It's simple, don't get Hogg or drink, go to meetings, take drug tests and breathalyzers at random, and keep your room and apartment clean. People complain that their apartment was dirty... SO CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF! It's a part of being responsible. And yes, they have a 0 tolerance for relapsing. If you relapse you have to go for observation for 24-48 hours. You can't stay on sober living property under the influence. I had a nice apartment, because I kept it nice and clean. Right in front of the pool too, which was nice. There was a drug dealer prowling the area, but the boca house manager got him arrested. I thought that was pretty cool. The housing staff cared that much to work with the police to put an end to that problem. This place is what you make it... sure there could be improvements, just like with anything. God put me there for a reason, now I have almost 4 years of sobriety... and Boca House, owned by treatment alternatives, is who I have to thank for that.
